Ooh Bugger!

Pleased you got it sorted, may be worth keeping Silverscreens on the van when on the drive, removes the temptation & if they did lob something may prevent it breaking.

I'd be worrying all the time in case some idiot took a case knife to them!

I'd think the same. Had wheel cover stolen from a 4x4 years ago.
Trying to think of anything rigid you could put round.

There are some pathetic people about. They may have "issues" but haven't we all at some time? Don't remember smashing anything when my world imploded.......

Glad your glass will be sorted and enjoy your trip.

Always Sad to hear of some low life scatter brain who does this mindless idiotic vandalism, would it not be good to actually have caught someone in a position where they couldn't escape ? give em a good old clout round the head with a piece of 3x2 - tie and gag them - throw them in the back of a van and drive for miles and strip em of their clothes an toss em down a steep embankment somewhere - Yes we can all but dream !

A bit lightweight we use to use 4 x 2

No that would not be a good idea.

I would get my neice's 10 year old to talk to them..... she would soon have their ears bleeding as she never shuts up!!!! Probably not allowed under the HRA though.

Hi June & Jeff, just seen this what a bummer, so pleased that your able to sort it out your vans a little beauty, what these mindless idiots get out of this I'll never know hope it's all sorted for your trip and look forward to seeing you at Southport. Carol & Eddie x

Don't encourage me - I've only just about lived down being the nutter with the vicious killer staffie (Skye before she calmed down)

Solution. Ask a friendly local copper who the 'hard man' of your area is. Go see him, and give him 50 quid to break a few legs, and put the word around that anything of yours that gets touched will result in hospital food for those involved.......(y)(y)(y)

First find a copper - not seen one any where near our neighbourhood since I phoned 999 to report the guy shooting at my kitchen window and my caravan with his air rifle. And worryingly I was considered the hard woman of the area when we moved in with Jess our bull mastiff - as the local drug dealers had pitbulls who were smaller than her - and they all thought that she was a REALLY BIG pitbull! Little did they know she was as soft as anything, Skye is little and looks like a puppy but she was the nasty one.

OK then.........Go and see my old mate 'Porno' Dave. He owns the sex shop on Rochdale Road. (y) Tell him that Dave P sent you, and explain your problem. :). He owes me a few dozen favours. ;)

And National Windscreens have just phoned me to say that they have only just picked up the glass from Preston (4.00pm) and they won't be able to get to me before they clock off at 5pm. And can I bring the van into them on Wednesday - so I said no and they are coming out to me on Tuesday morning.
So that was a big fat waste of a day :groan:

:doh::doh::doh::doh: Windscreen fitter arrived at 8.30 this morning with the replacement piece of glass, looked at the window in the van and said
"No problem, an hour and a half job. Easy!" Three hours later (11.30) and he has broken the fixed window :swear2: Jeff's drill bit and the handle off Jeff'scraper.
It's now gone 3pm and he hasn't returned as yet!
The good news is that the mobile engineer has got his van back and is coming at 1pm tomorrow to fix my fridge.
Fingers crossed we might be on our way to Thetford after all

5.00pm and a different fitter has just landed from Blackburn - obviously Jeff's comments to the Bury manager were still blistering paint.

this sounds like you might need more than one drink

Damage to the bodywork compliments of the first fitter - needless to say I have emailed this photo to his boss and phoned him this morning.
I'm waiting for his return phone call!

For some weird reason all my posts from Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning aren't here?
So - a quick recap - National Windscreens have graciously offered to reduce my £75 excess by £30 :Eeek:
But Jeff took the phone off me before I could tell him what to do with his offer and said he would settle for paying £30 excess!

The nice mobile engineer arrived to see to my poorly fridge - but when he removed it from the van he did one of those "shaking head and tutting" things that sound expensive. He said that he didn't know if my fridge would be repairable, but he would do his best.
So there was me straight onto the computer to price up a replacement fridge - £700+ :frowny:
But 2 hours later the fridge is serviced and repaired (new burner) for the grand total of ........£105 - so anybody wanting a mobile service engineer around the Manchester area try James of Stockport Caravan Servicing on 07855406936.

Thursday morning 9am we are off and rolling on our way to Thetford , 9.20 we get onto the motorway and 9.30 we are trying to figure out where the howling noise and cold breeze is coming from? And then the replaced fixed pane of glass on the drivers side slide backwards in the frame - so definitely NOT bonded into the frame then! Yet another email to National Windscreens, via my iPhone - don't you just love smart phones - to tell them about their latest c**k-up.
Still, we got down to Thetford OK, Jeff had to keep pushing the pane of glass back into place until we got off the motorway and then he wedged it tight with a folded piece of paper!
I've emailed National Windscreens again since we arrived home to tell them that I expect the window sorting out properly ASAP (but I'm worried that I could end up with more broken windows or damage).
Fingers crossed for tomorrow

Continuing the saga of Hymer v National Windscreens.
Their fitter is due between 10 and 12 this morning - but I'm not holding my breath!
