OMG nothing is going to plan.

We had to fly home as Fiat on holiday and 7 week repair time so had to buy flight bags cheap same as you in attic but thinking ahead will put in the van

Had to have the Plastercast changed after 7 days as some of the swelling had gone down, thought i would go "Green".
Having had the cast changed i found the new cast to be much heavier under my heel, it was bottom'ing before the clutch peddle was depressed which made driving extremely difficult.
I had to come up with a plan.
So my wife found a pair of flipflops with very thick bottoms, i cut them down to the same shape as the rubber on the clutch peddle, used two layers and cable tied them to the clutch peddle.
Now i can depress the peddle with no discomfort, happy days.
Photo's below.

Can you drive a foreign hire car to the UK.
We had this a few years ago with my RS6. The AA transported the RS home and supplied us with a hire car in Spain which we drove to the Spanish/French border. We then got a taxi from Spain to France, picked up another car which we drove to Calais, where we picked up a UK reg car to take to Colchester. This was pre Brexit, so don't know if that makes any difference. The only reason for all the cars was travelling with our dog.

Did they replace the dual mass fly wheel along with the clutch?

When I had my clutch go,the dual mass fly wheel was as worn out as the clutch, and I was told it is best to change both as a matter of course.
The calibration also has to be carried out with a diagnostic machine that is compatible with your vehicle. I know it sounds daft being a Fiat garage, but is the machine they are using to do the calibration

What did you do for over night stops with the dog?

We had already booked hotels for the return journey with the car that broke down but they organised and paid for everything else. I suppose had we not had pre booked hotels, they would of sorted us out as well. I must say it really was a fantastic service but one I would rather not repeat.

Don't think they'll let us walk on ship or train with the dog. Unless tunnel has some scheme in place for this.
Give this guy a call - if he can I'm sure he will help you with the transport of your dog. Good luck.

I read a report by someone in a similar position to you re transporting a dog back. Their insurance paid for a hire car to Calais, then provided a taxi from a British taxi company which allowed dogs, from Calais to UK, and a further hire car from Dover.

For all those that helped and showed concern, thank you.
We returned home yesterday after getting the mh repaired in Spain.
The faulty part was the clutch bearing which was leaking fluid onto the plates and caused failure. I saw the old parts and the plates were black and burnt. A new clutch was fitted which unfortunately was faulty, the second one is okay, travelled 1700 kilometres home without issue and all seems to be fine.
Didn't post before as didn't want to jinx the return trip. Not that I'm superstitious in any way.🤔
Anyway I now have splinters from holding a piece of wood all the way home, there's lucky Heather all over the inside of mh, four leaf clover all over dash board🍀 and I have no idea where the Cornish Pixie came from.
Anyone want a black cat?🐈‍⬛

That’s good, hope it didn’t cost too much, just so glad it wasn’t the dreaded comformatic failure… that would have been a lot more..😥

Grand, glad you're back. I had my first ever breakdown abroad this year, 'twas a bit of a PITA - sorted after only a couple of days, at about twice the price it would have cost me over here - hopefully it will also be my last!

Good to hear you're back. Hope all stays well with the Motorhome now.

Not only are we broken down, I have now managed to lock my credit card which we may need to pay repair bill.
Have spoken to provider who tell me it can not be unlocked at their end but only at an ATM machine by using other services.
I have tried three Spanish banks and neither have this option available.
Any one know how this is done in Spain?
Campsite owner has spoken to his bank and they say it's down to my provider, I'm going from pillar to post.
Any help appriciated .
You can unlock your card by using a ATM, have you tried it yet?

Couldn't un lock in Spain, at least not the banks we had access to. Campsite owner also asked at his bank for us but unable to help.
All sorted now though thanks.
