OMG nothing is going to plan.

How goes the repair etc...?

Breakdown truck turned up, wouldn't take mh as trees were to low when on back of truck so he left. 2nd truck arrived, the type that just lifts front end up but he couldn't as rear would scrape on floor so he left, 3rd truck arrived, exactly the same as the first so he left. Now waiting for a truck that can tow while on the ground, still waiting, good job I'm on a site but may think twice about camping in tree covered areas. Site boss said he'd tow me to garage with his 4 x 4 but it's illegal so can't.

Oh dear. What a difficult situation. Hope it gets solved soon.

4th breakdown truck arrived at 5.30 pm, same type as truck number two. He left.
What is it with these people? Do they not talk to each other and discuss the job?
Phone DAS again this morning, after 30 minutes on hold , get to speak to someone. Another 10 minutes on hold and he tells me they are struggling to recover me as their spanish partners have under quoted for the job and want more money, I now have to wait why they thrash out the cost element. The garage I'm going to is literally 10 minutes up the road from where I am. I'd push the bloody thing there if it wasn't up hill.
Pathetic organisation, Comfort want nothing to do with it either.

Sorry to hear these stories. Brings back memories as I’m sure it dLes for many on here, so much sympathy.

I had a bill to pay for motorhome glazing in Germany, which doubled. I’d set up Wise - or TransferWise as it was then - and I had two cards. Company didn’t use cards, Wise website down fir three days!!
local Santander branch totally useless, telephone to Uk, transfer not allowed. I really do sympathise Tribalbrit. Scrabbling around in order to pay is very stressful
that bill got paid because one of my sons employees was German- he paid it my son reimbursed him I paid my son
ridiculous carryon.
One breakdown, I had to wait 2 days fir AA to eventually allow a private company to transport m’home back After their incompetent send out of useless trucks, 2 days!
just posting my horror stories hoping to show you it will get sorted!

I have resigned myself to the fact that we won't now make our return trip as planned , not sure when to reschedule it for though as nothing happening at this end.
More time off work than planned etc, etc.
Have managed to unlock emergency credit card, by sending it back with a flight attendant that my daughter knows, got it unlocked in the UK and luckily have a secondary card still in Spain. Have had to make excuses to credit card company how I was in UK one day to unlock card and back in Spain the next but at least that is sorted incase its needed.

Can you get it towed out of the site to the entrance where it can be picked up on a truck…?
It's not the site that's the problem. The roads in the area we are in are tree lined, overhang the roads and are quite low in places. No problem in a 3 m mh but once on a flat bed it becomes 4.6m and to High for the trees.🌲🌴🌳

So truck number 5 just turned up, gone to reccy the route and if he can find one he'll come back.... I'm not holding my breath as its a farce.
If I had hair I'd be pulling it out now

As said they can flat tow, legally if that is what it takes to get you there.

So truck number 5 turned up again at 5pm with truck number 4.
5 had found a route out of the village and into the garage.
The 10 minute trip turned into an hour as we had to take quite a detour to avoid any trees, still a bit tricky but do able.
Long storey short the mh is in the garage and we are staying at least another week.

Try to sit back and relax and now it is on target to repair and enjoy your extended holiday. When my parents broke down in Barcelona they had the option of repairing the van there or bringing it home they chose to have it brought home. They flew home with a hire car waiting at the airport. The van can home on a low-loader 10 days later. Is that not an option with your insurance

It may come to that. The garage has been recommended by site owners whom I have known for many years so I trust the garage. I'm assuming any parts needed should be easier to get here than in the UK too.
But if a repair isn't practicle in the time we have then who knows. Having a dog also prevents flying home, it would require a hire vehicle.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I hope the dog appreciates you

And now we know its the clutch. Machinic is coming to see me later to discus my options.
I'm thinking it will probably be cheaper here than the UK.
I'll never get back to work. 🤔

Just carry loads of cash.
AND loads of US dollars, every country on the planet will except US dollars.
And you think you have problems, 3 weeks into our trip and tour around the Netherlands and we (myself and wife) have an accident while out on our cycles and i have a broken Ankle, leg now in plaster.
Yes, you guessed it, only I can drive.
Try driving with your clutch foot in plaster and taking a shower in those small cubicles while keeping the left leg dry.
