Oh dear.

It’s just a big money making racket, another indicator of rip off Britain!!
U.K. lez zones up to £100 A DAY

France LEZ zones €4 for the lifetime of the windscreen
Germany LEZ zones €5 for the lifetime of the windscreen

You are not comparing like with like.

The London charge is for non-compliant vehicles.

The German and French charges are for a sticker proving that vehicle is compliant. Vehicles which are non-compliant are not allowed in, but I do not know what the penalties are, could vary.

Only a matter of time. The ratchet will be applied, one click, another click ... until ICE vehicles disappear from Greater london.

This is what the future for commercial deliveries will look like (propaganda alert)

Take a lot of those bicycles to stock up all the supermarkets in London!

Then there really could be a congestion problem

I stayed at Abbey Wood on several occasions between 2011-2015 when I had a motorhome in the UK. It was a good location for using public transport to get into the City, thus avoiding having to drive our motorhome around the congested streets. Putting a restriction so close to Abbey Wood camp site seems to defeat the object of keeping polluting motorhomes off the city’s roads.
These ULEZ and LEZs (or whatever they’re called) strike me as being incredibly complicated to fathom, especially if you are unfamiliar with the schemes or come from a country that doesn’t have them.
After everything I have read about these congestion taxes, height restriction barriers, anti-motorhome policies, no wild-camping, pot-holed roads and general hostility towards motorhomers, I have come to the conclusion the UK is putting up barriers to keep me out. I had considered buying another van in order to tour around Britain one last time, maybe for a year, but I am putting the idea in the “too hard basket”. Plan B is to buy a motorhome in Australia.

Is nobody concerned that this could be the end of Abbey Wood and all other campsites within the M25?

We haven't visited London since 2007, just before the MH became non compliant, and it doesn't look like we'll be going again................ever.

For that £300, I can be touring in a foreign country.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Ok then, my moho can go in the ulez (my car has to pay! not that I want to set foot or wheel within the M25) but has to pay £15.00-£17.50 EVERY TIME I want to go into London (Congestion charge)
I can go into Paris, Strasbourg München or Stuttgart for €4-6 whilst ever I have my sticker in the windscreen!! Rip off Britain!
But you do have a point, being in europe the most polluting models are simply not allowed, whereas over here you can enter if you pay them, regardless of how polluting the vehicle is, so do they really want to stop pollution or do they just want your money?

Himself……..?? ;)

I for one wouldn't know, I have just seen Bradford and Sheffield have them, I hadn't a clue, why would I , I have been to Sheffield once and Bradford never, so if I was setting off now why would I look for something I had never heard of.
I had that sort of experience with my Smart car - in the early days of the London low emission zone I checked & found my particular model was exempt. I kept it a few years & went back safe, I thought, in the knowledge that I had checked & got a green tick.
What they didn't tell me was rules have changed & now my car isn't exempt so I got a nasty fine in the post.
If they change the boundaries they're supposed to put signs up but where are the ones to say exemption categories have changed and are now....whatever

I’ve checked and if he used the Dartford crossing and came in from Bexleyheath he wouldn’t have had to pay
