Avoid Rhyl. I live just a few miles away and only go there if I have too.Llangollen,Bala,Betws y Coed, Portmeirion, Porthmadog,Barmouth, Lleyn Peninsula,Trearddur Bay, Holyhead, Bangor, Caernarvon,Conwy then on to Cymru's answer to Benidorm... Rhyl.
Thanks steve69, a neighbour also spoke of Abersoch in glowing terms. We're going to be staying not too far away at Morfa Nefyn and will definitely take some time to visitAvoid Rhyl. I live just a few miles away and only go there if I have too.

There are slate and copper mines - Llechwedd is well worth a visit for slate, or Sygun for Copper. It's worth going at least to the slate one.
