A + R plus Bev went on to the very top, I headed off looking for a place to stop, passed a few, but hidden under huge rock faces felt dark and cold, headed further towards Bleik and found this, possibly the best so far, also north facing for aurora whick peaks again tonight

there was an element of dilemma in the above location choice, not only passing numerous previous options, but when I initially spotted the track which, had Bev been with me we would certainly not be parked here tonight, my first view of the track said 'go on try it' even I though it could be risky and could hear Bev saying 'David, no' so passed it by, but reached the town and thought that track was better that the town looked so turned round.

then spotted what had to be the other end of the same track, now removing my main doubt that I might have to reverse all the way back down, so in I went, it was rough and few very large fallen rocks that partially blocked the road made my 360 camera useful, as did Bev's continued absence

the fallen rocks have also created some consternation, as in just what is the risk? who knows, but it could happen when driving past and we have parked the hire car between us and the direction of travel should there be a rock fall :)

got the to the top and not only is there room to park, there is room to turn, room for a couple more and a picnic table for breakfast and hopefully aurora watching tonight :)(y)

The aurora is supposed to be so good tonight it could even be seen in Yorkshire! So there's hope for us here if the cloud clears a bit more.

I know, it said so tonight on Calendar ( local news!) .
Doubt I'll stay up though as I've to be in Huddersfield for 7.30am tomorrow, but Ralph may.
What a fantastic spot David. I hope you get a brilliant showing tonight. And no rockfalls !!
Everything crossed again for you.

(y)Just about the strongest ever aurora alert tonight, prediction for seeing it in Nottingham but full cloud cover here in Norway o_O typical

Good luck in the UK it is an awesome sight (y)

but LPG first tank ran out last night, 17 nights, 17 meals, 100 odd kettle fulls and hot water left on al time out of laziness although over ridden when on hook up, 7 nights (y) now on look to top up

It looks lovely David. . I always had to keep reminding myself how nice the scenery can be in norway.. you just start to take it for granted. ..
Looking forward to see what you think of the lofotens. ..it's one place I really want to visit...
Love to Bev ...and safe travels. .
Andy.

You'll get LPG at Svolvaer.

The first big rest place after crossing from Melbu was where Martin caught his very FIRST fish.

The rest place with the wooden walkways is the one with stunning views but there is a good pull in before with fantastic views also.

[1] what capacity is your LPG tank?
[2] swan ( )

Fabulous pictures, I had no idea...

2 x large gas lo cylinders usually takes about 20 litres just after we have swapped over

we think female wheatear maybe

meadow pipet maybe

and we agree on swans  of the whooper type

the last one is for complete honesty, we have a fish factory in sight, but only we look that way, and why would you :):)

Is this anything like the little chap in your first bird photo...
least.jpg

It's a fly catcher of some sort.. think you get them up that way..
The one on the wire does look thrush like..
Andy

@DavidG58 I think that your 3 bird pictures are, 1 a female Pied Flycatcher, 2. a Mistle Thrush and 3. a Bewick's Swan.
Liking your pictures, keep them coming (y)

David @DavidG58 three nights in a row now I have been stood on the end of a pier in Denmark (I know a feeble attempt at heading North) possibly looking North but how many days and nights do I need to spend here.

Martin

we have near total cloud cover, o_O came in as the sun set, in theory you should get lucky down there if the rain stops, but we are about 1200 miles north of you, maybe more, we have not seen the for 2 nights now

a lot of good fortune is needed I think :)(y)

1200 miles!!!!! Wow , that puts a bit of perspective into it all doesn't it(y)
