Rally Norden Farm Meet, Corfe Castle, Dorset 13-20 May 2023

Just confirmed with Norden we're arriving Saturday and leaving Thursday as planned, unless of course they get a lot more rain.

Very prompt reply from Norden Farm who will refund. Very impressed given the time they must be having. We hope the meet is a success and hope we can make next year. David

Thank you for all for your replies & messages letting us know what you have sorted with the campsite - please check the list on the first post https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/foru...e-dorset-important-change-please-read.263711/ & let me know if anything needs adding or changing :active:

Hi buddy have cancelled many thanks for all your hard work hope to catch up with you all on a later date 👍 Pete

Have spoken with Norden who have amended ours and Springy’s stay to just the 5 nights Saturday to Thursday, and arranged a refund for the other 2 nights. Thanks for all your hard work Wombles, it must have caused so much stress and anxiety for both you and the site. We’re both now booked into Highlands End for Thursday & Friday, and excited to see you all at the weekend. 🍺🍺

Thank you all for the updates so far - the list (on the first post on this thread) is looking a lot more sorted now with the Field more than half full :hi5:

IMPORTANT CHANGE TO NORDEN FARM MEET FROM THE CAMPSITE MANAGER

Motorhome Fun Club.

The site is wet and we have a lot of rain forecast over night. It is difficult to know at this stage the full extent of the rain and what problems that it may cause.

So, we have decided that we would like the postpone the meet arrival day to Saturday. However, if there are some of you who are already close by and need to be accommodated from Thursday then likely we can accommodate a few, please contact us.

For the majority, arrival Saturday and we have the flexibility to accommodate further on the original meet dates if anyone would like to stay longer.

We are facing unprecedented weather for May since opening this season. Our site & ground conditions are not going to be perfect. So the owners have also decided to offer a roll over of all monies paid to the meet next year, or another stay this season. (Dates for the meet next year to be decided very soon). If you really cannot fit in with any of the options offered, then money paid can be refunded.

We will be contacting you all directly, but ask for your patience whilst we try and deal with other bookings coming on site.

UPDATE FROM WOMBLES

Hopefully the 2024 Norden Farm Meet dates will be 9-16 May but subject to confirmation - will update again shortly so anyone that might want this option can advise the campsite accordingly but fingers crossed most will still choose to join us from Saturday!

The rain in Dorset overnight was absolutely torrential from tea time to the early hours. I was on a field 20 miles from Norden farm and needed the help of a big tractor to free the van from the mud and surface water. Not sure which of the fields you are booked into, but you will need to expect some mud there and ensure you have access to your towing eye in case. The forecast here is more wet weather but drying up a bit by Friday. I am sure that Ben will be very helpful with with pitching etc as they are trying to minimise the damage to the site this early into the season. Usually by now it is very good conditions under foot as the soil there drains quite well. It is just the excessive amount of rain the last week

Yes it's best to be prepared but the campsite has decided to delay arrival to the Saturday rather than cancel the meet as they know their ground so fingers crossed all will be good by then 🤞

UPDATE - everyone should have been contacted now (y) with just two bookings awaiting a decision by Funsters.
Will finally get around to starting to load the motorhome tomorrow & looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday from midday - 6pm!
Please be kind to the staff on Reception when you check in on arrival - it's been a difficult time & they will be allocating pitches based on ground conditions & motorhome size so any special requests for favourite pitches are unlikely to be able to be fulfilled this time but if you have mobility issues or similar needs hopefully they will already have a note of these for consideration where possible.
Fingers crossed for a little sunshine :sun:but if not there are piglets there to make us smile!

The sun is out this afternoon. Hopefully will be much improved by Saturday, but the met office have issued us a disruption alert due to thunderstorms this evening

Down there last year, I was sleeping in my drive-away awning, while my van was away having work done on it and, being a light sleeper, one of those bloody thing woke me, VERY early, every morning!

If only I had got my hands on it, we all would have found out what Peacock tasted like!

Best time to get them silently is when they are roosting just after sunset

Unfortunately, nobody told the peacocks here at Norden Farm that they had to be quiet after sunset. :giggle:
Don't you just love the shrieking that goes alongside the courtship displays? drop a towel or hood over their head

Think Swanage beach is now my favourite UK one - glorious in the sunshine yesterday :sun: It's easily missed - reminds me of Falesia in Portugal & could even get Piri Piri chicken in the town!

For anyone following this thread but not on the group chat - the sun shone :sun: (wellies were not needed!) & a lovely time was had by all with nothing but excellent feedback received about the location & campsite (y) A big :thanks3: to all who came along despite the weather concerns. We hope to arrange another meet at Norden Farm 9-16 May 2024 (although some wish to stay longer again) which should fit with other meets/rallies - currently we are waiting to hear if this is possible 🤞 & if so I will post on here & alert anyone who may be interested.

A big thank you to you Karen & Alan (Wombles) for organising this meet and sticking with it when it looked like it might get cancelled due to the weather.

It was our first visit to Norden Farm and I very much doubt it will be our last. It was a lovely meet, with lovely people and lovely weather, we had a great time.

Well, here it is folks, the result of my mad trek down to Durdle Door on Monday night/Tuesday morning of the meeting. I give you my rendition of the Milky Way. Hope you like it :giggle:

I feel my screen is not doing it justice! Fantastic! 👌

Just heard back from Warners that Newbury Show 2024 should be 17-19 May so proposed dates for Norden Farm meet next year of 9-16 May would fit well :) subject to confirmation.

Sadly (because we enjoyed this year so much) we will still be on the continent then!

Just a thought, IMHO it useful to have a rally (meet) finishing the same day as the next event starts, making an easy follow on should that be people’s intentions.
