Non Resident UK Spanish Property Owners 90/180 Stay Extension May Come in November 2022

I am referring to last winter period 2021/22 here in Murcia it's was rammed....Campsites doing well new Camperstop totally full and taking bookings for when they had vacant spaces....our resort doing great, new builds selling well, new commercial centre opened...the Covid winter 2020/21 not so.
In early June my wife had to go for an operation in Murcia town...we stayed on the Camperstop near IKEA....with another 60 vans...
I've just had a quick scan of yet another Camperstop in Mazarron...that's open and ready for next winter....the Northern European visitors are enjoying the Costa Calida...
Thumbs up for Br...t then,,,probably northern Europeans prefer it without Brits...Benicasim full 21/23 but 80% Brits,,don't know about elsewhere.BUSBY.

80% Full of Brits because they target Brits..when Brits don't come their business collapses, if they broaden their clientele to other nationalities, it gives a buffer....a single nationality clientele is creating a Brits abroad situation....not a good business plan....
As we do have a good mix of multi national friends, I believe that northern European folk cope quite well with Brits...Spanish too....however they do seem to greatly outnumber the UK visitors....Must stop saying Brits and use UK visitors instead..

Long stay Motorhomers, Property Renters and owners do make a major contribution to Spanish businesses and are welcomed by said businesses in that they are recognised as regulars and that contribution often pays the bills, the upturn of visitor numbers on 7/14 day holidays is were they make any profit.
This is the key point with respect @grommet The Wino and jumar are missing, its not just motorhomers there's a lot of brits that used to overwinter in Spain. Their spend will not easily be replaced, especially if you're relying on the Dutch and French who tend to be very "careful with their money.

Btw gromett 13% is a really bad unemployment percentage.

If this proposal comes into effect could 100 MH owners club together to buy a cheap property, own 1% each and then carry on with their winter MH periods as before?
If you could get 50 at 10k each, I will sell you a share in my apartment....Make it a paper exercise only....my IBAN number is available via my solicitor..😀😀🥳👍🇪🇦

My plan was to retire to Portugal. I knew voting out would kill this and cause issues for me travelling to the EU amongst other things

It didn't kill my plan to retire Portugal thank goodness...

Beautiful country, beautiful people and beautiful weather (and super fruit trees).

Our apartment next door has French renters...800€ a month.During the winter we have Dutch renters at 600€....
Our resort has a big proportion of Norwegians, Dutch, French and UK second home owners....they all have bought expensive apartments, play golf, have second Spanish cars.....put a vast amount of cash into our region.. everyone plays their part in maintaining a healthy income into Spain..
Haven't seen any closed bars, shops or restaurants around here..everywhere is fully operational with or without our UK visitors...

Motorhomer and long term stayer numbers have been hugely affected over the last couple of years by Covid. We have yet to see how much the 90 day rule affects things……….maybe in a year or two when newer motorhomers have decided they prefer long haul travel again.
But until then, keep on guessing about long term tourist numbers and it’s economic consequences.

This could be interesting negotiations.

If I can get 50 people we could take a 2% share each.

Now we have to deal with the ridiculous '10K each'. We would need two independent valuations - paid for by you of course.

I think at the moment we are a long way from needing your IBAN number.

It was you that gave me the idea. You had your flat and plot of land before Brexit was even being discussed :) Nice one (y)

I need to stay in the UK to look after my Mum, but I was anticipating retiring to portugal after I am sadly no longer needed on that front.

I don't regret my decision or my vote though in any way. I have just had to make new plans.

I think I need to come on an inspection tour of this place.

Back circa 2011 We hired a big villa that we had hired the summer before.

A Dutch couple had stayed previous to us as a long term winter rental. They took everything with them. Every grain of rice and salt. Nothing left behind.

I had a Dutch couple wanting a 3 month winter let, they enquired about our house. I offered them a cracking deal. But they said it was too expensive!. I even broke the no pets rule and they had two dogs. God knows what the were expecting.

Depends on the market rate. We have found in the past that holiday renting in France is a lot more expensive on average from British owners abroad than the French gites site

Thats because the French won't pay the same prices.

We ve not previously spent as much time amongst Dutch as this winter, what an eye opener. On one occasion We were in a restaurant and 8 dutch came in, they all had menu del dia even though it was evening and had 1 coke and 1 glass of wine between them.

Especially from those with children or grandchildren wanting august

Nobody is meant to stay in the house - its just a ruse to be a property owner for MHomers to get round the 90/180 rule if the proposal is adopted.

Trev

I doubt whether a piece of land would qualify.

We have to wait and see.
Deeds, utility bills, habitation certificate to start with.....but to be perfectly Frank or Martin....the Consulate continue to deny that any such talks are underway....I believe that all this came from a few Politicians from a Minor Political Party in one region of Spain voicing their opinions on this matter, it went to press...I remember reading it late last year..
Spain has been doing their best to make as many expats 100% legal and have been using their resources to get driving licences saga sorted....there are some here who cannot drive because they left it too late to do a simple exchange....and others have taken a Spanish Theory and Practical test to get back on the road....this and other formalities like getting illegal cars off the road is more of a priority..
I've said this before that our resort is made up of residents and second home owners...these folk put a lot of cash into this development and find themselves restricted...

I find it incredible that so many people who had not regularised themselves and were, to some extent, under the radar, did not follow the changes taking place and the effective dates.

I was living here in Poland for 10 years as an EU Citizen, but I was well-aware that my status would change under the Withdrawal Agreement and that I would have to change my status to Residency, change my Driving Licence and re-register my MH, which I should have done before had I officially had an address here. HM Government were putting out information on the changes and dates applicable to each country, so what these other people thinking is beyond me.

As you imply this proposal may come to nothing.

Only just saw this.

Why would the Russian conflict change things, lots of Ukrainians to accommodate ?.
Probably to prevent Russians taking advantage of it.

They aren't Russian?

I was reading yesterday in some areas of Liverpool the unemployment is 80%
I think you may have that the wrong way round Gus. Even Allowing for the fact that most things presented to us as facts are generally b*ll*x :ROFLMAO:
