Yep, it makes one realise that although the NHS is practically on it's knees they still continue to provide an excellent emergency service - just thank God that it didn't happen in America where you'd need to take out a mortgage to pay for their services

So sorry to hear about your accident, but you are here to tell the tale and a warning, the main thing is to look after yourself and your injuries Morocco will be there next year for a visit.
Best wishes for your recovery.

Thats a real wake up call for us all - we get too relaxed about BBQs. Really sorry you had to go through this. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Been there, done that, though it wasn't a BBQ and have lived with the consequences of skin grafts for about 30 years now, wouldn't wish the same on anyone. At least you are in the right place, it will take a while for you to be back to nomality, but you will get over it, just don't plan on any sun bathing.

Best wishes for a good recovery. That settles an argument for me our dodgy cadac is going to the tip. We have already got our replacement.

I know people knock touring in the UK but I’ve found that doing very short close to home tours can be very enjoyable and give you a micro break and change of scenery
I agree, UK can be good. It's the unreliable weather that is the issue, particularly October/November which was the time period we were looking at.

Go on then, tell us, I'm sure everyone is wondering what you did. Might help prevent others doing the same.

Used some liquid accelerant to 'get the bbq going'. It flamed up massively, caught my shirt on fire.

Thanks to all for your caring and supportive comments. Generally it has been great to receive such support from my friends and family. Even rekindled relationships with people I have not spoken to for years. Incidents like this do seem to bring out the best in people.

Even though it has changed our lives for a while I am positive and grateful, knowing that things could be a lot worse and I'm am looking forward positively returning to a full and active life asap.

Might I suggest using wood wool if you want to get your bbq alight! Only need a few and don’t contain any accelerant. Been using them for years on my Komado. 😲

I feel for you and understand your disappointment. I'm also a recently retired teacher and had a similar sudden halt to all our plans for the Summer and Autumn. (my post at the time linked below)

Wishing your husband all the best for a full and quick recovery.

VXman I saw your reply to the thread above, how are you also? Hope you are on the mend? 👍

Getting there slowly. Some areas are pretty much healed but the hand is still sore and unusable. Had isseus with my forearm (overgranulation) so that's not really improved at all. So some ups, some downs, much improved in myself and getting out and about a bit but still can't drive and having to visit Stoke Mandeville every 5 days.

Thanks for asking.

Glad to hear you are improved in yourself and managing to get out, that in itself helps I'm sure. I wish you well in your recovery and hope that you receive the best care for you. Keep us updated of your progress, stay positive 👍
