NFU any good?

Been with NFU for over 4 years now and only recently did we have to call upon them after we got rear ended in our little car/toad and it was a write off. They were very very efficient and got the ball rolling immediately and paid us out in full after 10 working days. The car was 19 months old at the time of the accident yet gave us the full amount what we paid for it as it was brand new when we bought it and were the only owner, so that was good. They don’t really get on board or entertain motorhomes with a value of more than 150k anymore..we got told this yesterday when we rang them about a query we had. I would still ring them though to hear them out. 👍
Thanks for this info it’s very helpful I’m now looking to add an additional two cars one of which is a toad.
Did your toad get hit whilst you were towing? What info do they need when you’re insuring a toad. Our toad is currently insured by LV and whilst I explained that the car had been modified and would on occasion be towed by the van I have never felt 100% confident that their customer services person actually understood! Thanks

Hi All

It’s that time of year again when I have to renew the insurance for the MH.

We have been with Comfort for the past 3 years and although we haven’t made a claim they seem to have a good reputation and are very easy to deal with over the phone.
However they insist that we keep the van in storage as we don’t have a driveway big enough to park up. I would prefer to keep it on the road outside the house it’s very quiet opposite a farm so I’m not concerned about traffic and believe it’s more secure than the storage facility.
Spent an hour on the phone with NFU today who would cover us (without breakdown) for about £120 more than the Comfort quote.

Anyone have any feedback re NFU?

Thanks
Been with them for years, House, Cars, and Motorhome. All very good.

Hi AG. No, we wasn’t towing the car behind the van when we were hit fortunately enough. Regarding insuring it with NFU, we just told them we are wanting to tow a car behind our motorhome via an A-Frame. Gave the details of the car and explained to them all about the A-Frame and that the car has been adapted to accommodate this. They wasn’t sure at first, but made the effort to find out exactly what we were telling them. No bother at all really.

Unfortunately they are way out on the cars which is a shame as I was wanting to keep everything under one roof!
So we’ll take up their offer on the van and probably stay with LV on the cars👍

Thanks all, been with NFU for four years and have just had the motorhome uprated from 3400kg to 3700kg so C1 insurance now. started to shop around but seeing the comments, I think I will stick with the NFU.
I only ended up with them by accident as they were the only company that would cover me and the motorhome as I was returning home from living 7yrs in Portugal and was on my PT driving licence. No problem, very helpful local office Holt in Norfolk.
