Hi All

It’s that time of year again when I have to renew the insurance for the MH.

We have been with Comfort for the past 3 years and although we haven’t made a claim they seem to have a good reputation and are very easy to deal with over the phone.
However they insist that we keep the van in storage as we don’t have a driveway big enough to park up. I would prefer to keep it on the road outside the house it’s very quiet opposite a farm so I’m not concerned about traffic and believe it’s more secure than the storage facility.
Spent an hour on the phone with NFU today who would cover us (without breakdown) for about £120 more than the Comfort quote.

Anyone have any feedback re NFU?

Thanks

Been with them about 4 years now and like you we haven’t made a claim so can’t comment on that, otherwise happy with service and price provided

At Lenny’s suggestion, I changed from Adrian Flux to NFU. Much easier and simpler to deal with, and significantly cheaper. Same as Lenny, no requirement for alarm or tracker, though I subsequently had them installed where and when I was ready. I just informed them of the subsequent modifications.

I also told them I had installed a TV. The only thing they wanted to know was whether it was wall-mounted!

We changed from Comfort to NFU last year.
£300 cheaper than Comfort, no alarm or tracker required. Comfort wanted an alarm & tracker fitted before driving off the dealers forecourt.
Hi Lenny
Did you manage to get breakdown with them as they said that they didn’t cover vans over 7 metres?
Quote from Comfort £453 in storage including break down. NFU £557 to keep at home but without breakdown.

No as I have Fiat camper cover for 5 years, also NFU don't do breakdown for over 3500kg.
Ours was £1000 with Comfort, NFU £715.

Yes that was it over 3500kg not 7m sorry my brain is frazzled!
In April I have two cars and a van to insure and tax!! It’s a heavy month Mr wallet not happy!!!🤣

I'm with NFU. Went with them for the first time last year, as most competitive. Just had renewal and only gone up slightly. Still cheaper than others for a good cover, so will be going with them again.
They informed me that they don't offer breakdown cover on motorhomes.

I have just had a claim and payout with the NFU and found them very fair on my vehicle’s valuation,
They couldn’t have been more helpful on the phone and always got back to me promptly when I had questions concerning the accident,
I would recommend them and I will continue using them,

Ditto, plus 2 cars. Looking in to moving house insurance to them too and perhaps breakdown cover too but that needs more research first. Had all the pets with them too although the old girl is too old to insure now 😔

Don't need to worry about renewal for a few months yet, however, is there a central office/contact number for NFU that people are using.

Thanks

Been with NFU for 7 years now, no claims made but easy communications. Now use them for motorhome, car and household insurance.

I just called my local, Perth, office.

The branches act like independant agents you need to use one that understands Motorhomes. Chichester, Louth, Ipswich and there are a few others.
I use Chichester.

Do they offer a discount for multi vehicle I currently have two cars with LV that also need insurance in April so might enquire if I can add those as well. Thanks

I’d need to check to be honest. Just remember them being the best deal and have an office in the local town. I like to speak face to face.

20+ yrs First rate , no breakdown over 3500kg, one claim was windscreen on US RV not a quibble , all vehicles and house with them . Used Seven Oaks branch for RV reason easy transaction , wifes car written off due to Kamikaze deer , very fair deal.

NFU brilliant with a claim albeit for a car accident, absolutely first class.
So quick and efficient, the courtesy car arrived delivered to our home the following day, the monies for the write off a good valuation and arrived so quick.
Best insurance I’ve ever dealt with, shame the Motorhome quote was far too expensive so didn't go with them.

Caz had a claim for her car accident a few years ago AA insurance it was a total joke start to finish.

We with Nfu , for nearly 3years ,
A class windscreen replaced in first year never affected increase in cover at renewals ,
No breakdown cover,
I just use lv Brittannia rescue for breakdown cover .
Which costs me £48 + includes EU cover ,
But excesses is £ 40 if you need them that suits me.
Needed once’s but found them to be excellent.

The breakdown is now only for cars, it’s length not weight, 5 metre. We changed to them 2 years ago to get cover for Turkey. Our local branch in Sherborne were very helpful but I think I was the first Motorhome they’d done so had to make few phone calls. We didn’t stay with them and went back to Comfort as the renewal price shot up, we knew we would be changing the van shortly and got a good price to go back to Comfort.

I think Lenny HB is right, certain branches are good. Ours is great for more rural stuff like farms, thatched cottages and the like.

I have been with NFU for many, many, years. Home contents, car and motorhomes. 1 claim on home contents, and 1 claim on a self inflicted car accident with a gate post.

Excellent service, no quibbles, no delays, absolutely what an insurance company should be like. And a good price.

For anyone considering putting their house insurance through them , if you do you can also get travel insurance at a very cheap price added on.
This is not breakdown but medical and that.
Also don't do it on the internet , waste of time, go into the office and get it face to face, I use the uttoxeter office for everything and don't take the first price they give you ,you can usually do a bit of bargaining.

We have been with nfu for over 30 years and they are the best.
Had some claims against and for us and in every instance they where brilliant and very fair.
The only time we didn't was when phil had a
F type jaguar, they didn't come close for a reasonable price.
The agent said sorry its not really there thing, fair enough 🙂

Thanks Lenny. The Ipswich one will do for me come Sep. 👍

Been with NFU for over 4 years now and only recently did we have to call upon them after we got rear ended in our little car/toad and it was a write off. They were very very efficient and got the ball rolling immediately and paid us out in full after 10 working days. The car was 19 months old at the time of the accident yet gave us the full amount what we paid for it as it was brand new when we bought it and were the only owner, so that was good. They don’t really get on board or entertain motorhomes with a value of more than 150k anymore..we got told this yesterday when we rang them about a query we had. I would still ring them though to hear them out. 👍

Did I hear that they won't provide cover if over 80 unless already with them?
