Newark Spring Show - March 2011

Having marshalled on more than one occasion, we believe with that number of motorhomes it is just too much to expect one motorhome to do commercial style catering, i.e. fridge storage and lack of cooking facilities.

Providing the food is also costly if marshalling more than one event (costs come out of the marshalls pockets), so we would like to suggest (an idea that has been put forward previously) that for the coffee morning a plate of something be contributed by each motorhome, be it sausage rolls, cake or whathaveyou, to ease the burden on the marshalls.

The idea of bacon butties is great and everybody loves it, but we have to be realistic, especially with this number of attendees.

Your thoughts please:Smile:

Great idea Nigel and Pamala :thumb:
I am not saying that just because of the April Fools meet we are marshalling! :Rofl1: Jane

We've taken biscuits, nibbles etc along to some (not all) rallies in the past when we've known there was to be a get-together and intend doing so in future.

As far as anything provided by marshalls goes, though, I've always viewed it as a generous gesture on their behalf and not something to be expected.

Marshals have been too generous in the past, they are there to 'marshal' and look out for our safety of course, but no one expects them to incurr any additional expence. If they do, they do it because they want to, but really a small charge should be made to cover costs for say coffee and cake, no one objects to this. We have some offers of commercial rally sponsors for shows later in the year, who will donate items such as coffee, cake, beer or bacon and that will be great. :thumb:

Hi Nigel & Pamala

I absolutely agree with you both, as I do with Jim's post above. It 's not practical for the numbers involved.

Anyway, the thought of so many different food variations from each MH sounds more interesting

Jim do we have the use of the building this year, or will we be socialising "Al Fresco"?

Cheers,

Jock.

As winners of the Event Developments Trophy for the club that had the most fun in 2010, yes; this entitles us to our own building to socialise in:thumb:

Nice one, as we didn't use it last year, when Facts turned it down.

Cheers,

Jock.

I think it ludicrous that you should be expected to supply and cook 200 Bacon Butties
Put me down for a
Sausage buttie with one of Pamala's fried eggs on top:thumb:
Geo

I thought marshalls were there simply to point me in the direction of where to park our 'home. I certainly don't expect anyone to supply me with our champagne and salmon breakfasts.

We used if Jock, where were you:Smile:
Sorry Jim,

I am obviously getting mixed up with the Autumn Newark show.:Blush::Blush:

Cheers,

Jock.

P.S. Please remind Ash from me, that he is currently working on a piece of quality German craftsmanship, which will be another great boost for his portfolio. :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1: (He'll get that one straight away).

How are we going to cut Sues Lemon Drizzel in to 120 slices?

Ok brains.. How are we going to cut Sues Lemon drizzle cake in to 120 slices?

Bad enough when we had 50 vans at Shepton Mallet last year... Mind you a lot of people dig chip in various food not only for the coffee morning, but also the evening.. Eventwo tents together was not big enough.. Ezzie takes up a lot of room... We moved Rogers (wildman) chair so many times ... Real musical chairs... Settle for Ricks HR next time...

Don't miss this one..............

It looks like I will

Due to a job being delayed I'll be 450 miles north. I can't afford to drive 900 miles even for a FUN meet.

But if it shifts some more, who knows.

That's a shame Brian. I'll leave you on for now. Don't leave it too late as I'm sure you'll find a funster to buy your tickets:BigGrin:

Hi Andy, glad you could make it, you will certainly pick up any tips you need from other funsters.

Have you made your booking with the event organisers and told them you are with Motorhome Fun, if not, you will be put in the general camping area, away from us lot (some might say that's a good thing, if you want some peace and quiet), just in case you haven't here is the link:

Call Event Developments on 01775 723723 (during office hours) to book with a credit card (all major cards accepted).
