New Zealand or Bust

Whittaker’s Chocolate! You have discovered Kiwi gold Two on Tour ! Whittakers is one of our oldest companies, founded by a man from Macclesfield (hardly known for its chocolate production) and run to high ethical standards.
Whittakers has always been top quality and innovative with its flavours, but it comes at a price, especially compared with the likes of Cadbury’s.
I haven’t bought Cadbury’s chocolate since they closed their factory in Dunedin several years ago. Just my way of protesting. When I first came to NZ in the late 80s it was noticeable that Cadbury’s UK chocolate tasted different to Cadbury’s NZ chocolate. I have been told it’s because they make it to a recipe that can withstand the higher temperatures of NZ and Australia. Maybe Whittakers also has a higher melting rate, as proved by Holly's mum.
I like to give my house exchange guests a few bars of Whittakers. They do chocolate bars with Marlborough Sea Salt and Nelson Pears so you could say they have a local flavour. 🍫💝
In recent years Whittakers has paid Nigella Lawson a lot of money to advertise their chocolate, unless, of course, she was paid in a lifetime supply of the stuff.
For those back in the UK Whittakers and many other Kiwi goodies can be purchased here, No Affiliation just get a care package once in a while.

Picton docking imminent!

What a journey, incredible, journey of a lifetime . I’ve promised myself that ferry crossing forever .

We stayed on a small private site near the dock.
If I remember correctly there was a lot of fruit trees there 😊

Blimey it was cold that night.

Hi hope you tried some of our wines. Yes the Burleigh pies have quite a name. We live in Blenheim but are currently in Nelson. Actually caught up with Kiwi Kamper this afternoon enjoy the rest of your trip.

We bought pies in Sheffield of all places from a place on the side of the road.

Very once pies and must be good as a local copper was using it 👍😊

The New Zealanders can be a little bit odd sometimes. :ROFLMAO:
Here are a few oddities that we have come across in our travels so far.

The wellie fence.

We found the tree of lost soles on an NZMCA site.

Only one shoe left by people, no pairs 😊
I left one of some really cheap and uncomfortable flip flop I had bought 😊

Oh dear, that could be expensive when we get home and get Whittakers withdrawal 🤣

I think you can walk around the top of that.

You collect a key from the library or council office??

Probably due to elf & safety, but public can no longer assess the water tower. :(

A bit overcast so pics not great, spotted our first Dolphins not long out of harbour and then nothing all the way over Cook Strait until we entered Tory Channel and they were all around the boat for a few minutes and then nothing again,

You need to zoom in 😊

And the just coming into Picton.

Lovely trip, sea flat calm and the ferry better than I remember old Dover and Folkestone ferries so all good.

Just looking for PaddyM he said something about beer 🤔

I hate to tell you this funflair but many of the Cook Strait ferries are old Dover, Cherbourg and Irish Sea ferries.
Yes I read that before but thought it was a nice smooth crossing to be fair, they used to rattle like mad out of Dover, maybe that was the ferry before these 🤔

Sat on the front at Picton with a glass of wine, after watching short tailed stingray in the harbour,

Booked a Kayak trip tomorrow so it looks like we are here for two days at least.

Jen doesn’t like the water so I have bad news for her 🤔

We will be back in Le Cafe tomorrow 4:30 ish if you fancy or later by arrangement if you have plans 😏

If you are around 08:30 we will be leaving by kayak from E Ko, it could be the last time we are seen so take your chance 😄
