We are sorry, but we have to pull out of the New Year meet at the Grouse & Claret.:(:(
We will explain fully when we see you both later in the year; what we will say is that our friends & neighbours are insisting we attend their New Year bash at the local golf club. :party:It could get vicious:rofl:.
We hate to go back on our word, but sorry:crying::crying:

We might be interested, we're looking to go away for New Year, we wouldn't do the meal and disco because we have 2 dogs and wouldn't leave them for that long but it looks a nice spot
 
@Dave K, We have 2 dogs but the campsite is by the pub so I will just pop back to them every hour.

Thanks for the info, anybody stayed here recently, it doesn't get very favourable reviews on trip advisor or uk campsite

We know of people who went last New Year and couldn't wait to re book, however it is so popular that they do ask you to book the new year meal.
However have just read the latest T/A reviews (for what they're worth) and it does seem to be sliding downhill. :(
May be time for a rethink ??

Sorry, didn't want to sound like I was questioning the choice, I'll watch the thread and as I've said previously we are looking to go away for New Year but it has to be a place where we can exercise the 2 labs so I'll keep an eye out

Well my fellow " New Year Funsters " have just returned from an excellent lunch at The Grouse and Claret.:D
4 different meals all excellent. Campsite checked and request placed for all to be sited together...:rolleyes: The restaurant was full with people waiting for tables.

I've contacted the pub so that's sorted, I think we'll probably set off on the Wednesday and stop off somewhere halfway for a couple of nights, so if anyone has some suggestions that would be good, we're travelling up from Taunton, Somerset :cycle:

All booked in for site and meal, wouldn't take any payment details though, said he'd send out menus and then we pay after making choices, but we are booked in, now hoping they sell cider....well I am from Somerset :beerchug:

It will be our 1st rally as others are fully booked or we can't make dates as OH still works....

N.B After our booking there are only 5 pitches left

Hi Bill/ Jude
Just to let you know we've just overnighted at the Grouse and Claret and I don't think we'll bother doing the New Years Eve, the site is set up for caravans so you can't fill up or empty water, the free WiFi didn't work and the showers were that dirty I wouldn't use them to wash my dogs off :(
The food was OK, nothing more than ok but I wouldn't fancy spending a few nights there.
I won't put anything on the thread as I'm sure they have happy customers, just wasn't for us.

I will re post this on the Forum, so people can make a choice if that's ok with you ?

That's fine, I just don't want to put people off unnecessarily but I can understand that you wouldn't want people to go there and be disappointed.
