New to lithium.

Problem Barry is also it could be retained in customs and they could ask you to pay IVA (or IGIC), it's a nightmare since Br**it.
Well there are still a couple that will ship, so somehow they are getting round the problems.

That should be fine for the 280ah battery, correct? Leroy Merlin sell it for €69 - seems a good price.
You are mixing up units Barrie!

The Battery total capacity of energy is 280aH (Amp-hours).

The Shunts are rated in the maximum current they will take/measure, so a 300A shunt will tolerate up to 300 Amps of current running through it.

But in any case, it is fine, I don't think your battery will provide over that, the BMS is probably limited to 200 or so Amps.

So, that shunt is fine for your setup.

That's exactly what I meant. Thanks.

We have 2 x 305Ah Fogstar Drift Eco batteries, which although they do have a BMS, they have neither Bluetooth nor heaters.
The Victron 500A Smart Shunt tells me all I need to know, without subjecting me to information overload. ;)

Cheers,

God…. JockandRita I’d get them all recalibrated there’s 0.01v variance lol.

Just for those that cannot tell, that was tongue in cheek humour

Do Amazon ship to the canaries? Or can you search on Spanish Amazon? If so you want one of these and you can download the app for free from the play store.

But why 500 amp, surely 300 amp is enough for one 280ah battery, no?

Do the Victron devices speak to each other throughout BT, Jock?
Nice gear (y)
Absolutely Peavy, which is why I went down that route minus BT on the batteries........but only after much reading and research, based on the info from fellow Funsters, one of whom especially deserves a mention, ie, Raul, for his willingness to help and assist me with my chosen installation. 👍

Barry, you might find that you might want/need to add another battery and a larger inverter, in which case fitting the excellent and very accurate Victron 500A Smart Shunt now, would save having to upgrade, and, like all Victron.gear, it comes with a 5 x year warranty. 👍

Cheers,

Jock. :)

As JockandRita suggested it gives you a bit of room to expand your system should you wish to in the future for not much extra cost.

Thanks Jock , Raul,
Good information, it ratifies my decision to go with the drift eco, 2x314. Cerbo should give me all the information we need.

It's only a fiver more for the 500 amp, having said that the 300 will be fine for your needs. Even a 300 watt inverter at full chat will be fine with it.
