Hi all,

We ordered our first brand new MoHo in March, and with all that has been going on, have just had it delivered by the dealer to my home. Obviously in the excitement on delivery, everything looks great!

On closer inspection after a couple of days, there are a few things that I am a bit dissapointed about. I would appreciate your thoughts. It could be just me being pedantic.....

So, first thing is that the majority of the silicone on the roof is mouldy (very), see picture. Would you expect this on a new MoHo, or would you have thought their prep team should have made it spotless? Should I have to spend hours trying to get it clean?

Secondly there are 4 stone chips on the bonnet and a scratch on the passenger door. Now, they did deliver it to me FOC, but not on a low loader, they drove it here. So their argument could be that it happened on the way. Our last MoHo was 5 years old and only had a couple of stone chips!

A little more minor, but there is a blemish on the bumper and the lens built into the side mirror is cracked.

I just feel deflated after waiting so long for our first brand new Motorhome, it doesn't feel like it should.

Feel free to tell me I am being unrealistic, or, should I pass all this back to the dealer to sort? They have been sort of responsive so far on a few other missing items, so have no reason to think they wont sort it, but I don't want to be one of "those" customers.

Thanks in advance
Dean

New should be immaculate ! Obvious that no pdi was done.
Used should be as near spotless as possible, if existing damage it should have been pointed out by dealer or spotted by you. Also it should have been valeted beforehand.
Get on the phone to them and send pics of any problems to them.

After all motorhomes are not cheap
It seems that with quite a lot of dealerships these days that they just hand you the vehicle and rely on your response finding all the faults as the PDI.

Snag it carefully, check everywhere, make detailed notes and put everything in writing , Did you pay any part on a Credit Card(deposit) because if you have they will take up any issues on your behalf far better than most warrantees especially if the MH is not brand new. I buy all cars on credit cards (a lot of dealers don't like it) they are fully aware of the power the Credit card companies have.
Good luck, and I hope your disappointment will soon subside and the excitement return. :giggle:
I think the credit card section 75 ruling only applies to purchases up to £30,000 , though I could be mistaken.

Ask your dealer to come and collect it and only return it when all itemised faults are rectified.

.....wow! If it were my van I would be very depressed reading all these comments.....Glad your happy with the deal you received and that your perfectly happy with the age of it. Have the cracked lens replaced, make sure the sealant is watertight, fit the missing fridge parts etc and settle in to enjoy your new toy. Before you’ve finished there will be more stone ships, scratches etc.....the first scuff on a new pair of shoes is always the hardest to bear but after that why worry? And yes, I do know the price difference between a pair of shoes and a Motorhome....🙄

It’s a vehicle that will travel at speed on highways and gravel campsite roads (obviously not at high speed! 😃)....by the time you decide to get rid of it those issues will pale.....it’s already a used vehicle....enjoy it, use it and congratulate yourself on the deal you achieved and your choice. 😁

Thanks for that. I am happy, and luckily, I am a very positive person......

All will be well.

You are correct if you are using a credit card, and that is the total of the purchase price, not the amount put on the card. But the limit is higher if you have a credit deal arranged by the dealer.

Interestingly the Consumer Credit Act was not aimed at credit cards, which were very rare when the Act first came out in 1974. It was aimed at Hire Purchase agreements. From memory at the time the only mainstream credit card available in the Uk was a Barclaycard. I took one out in 1972 and it was rare then. The courts subsequently decided that the wording of the Act was wide enough to cover credit cards, but did not cover the more popular Charge Cards, like Diners Club and American Express were at the time, as you were required to pay off the full balance of those each month.

Thanks for that. I am happy, and luckily, I am a very positive person......

All will be well.
That is a very good philosophy to have in life. Saves a lot of stress.

I have read most of the feedback and see justice in most replies, one observation worthy of note I believe is that many dealers are in a fragile financial position, not just due to the lock down, few have any financial reserves and operating costs are high, this is if course not our problem as consumers, however taking acting quickly with a clear plan maybe the best option, as leaving an unpalatable choice now could result in no resolution at all.
In the past I've been there too with a caravan! Large dealer went bust just as our caravan was needing significant warranty work. The resolution was not easy and cost us a considerable amount.

Thanks all,

I have been in discussions with the dealer and have presented the costs to get the issues dealt with locally. I am waiting for agreement. All cordial and professional.

I will update once it is resolved.
Nice to hear some good news for a change in this current turmoil.
Good Luck and enjoy when sorted. 😁😎🌞🍾🥂🍻🍵🍴🍷🎋🏖️🏔️🛣️🏞️

Glad to report that all costs incurred in getting the issues sorted locally have been agreed with the dealer.

Unless I have any problems, that’s the end of this episode.

Thanks for all your input.

Good news, just make sure you have it in writing, even via email will do.

Nice to see a dealer doing the right thing, do you mind telling us who they are?

Well it’s nice to hear dealers still have their customers satisfaction at heart specially now that MoHo sales are increasing and they don’t need a bad review.

Well done.
