New dover road Park & Ride Canterbury

I think there will be more motorhomes than cars as they are talking of reopening sturry road p& r

do you mean the large moho parking area to the right when you go through the barrier was full, or is now only for cars ?
When I was there on 23/24th July the motorhome area was more or less full & there were at least a dozen or 15 in the overspill but many were concordes/palaces & one french van was taking up the complete right hand end .When i left early am. on 25th july there were 5 or 6 vans in the main car park against the trees on right as you enter.
I mean it seems to be a motorhome parking area now as there are nowhere near as many cars using the P&R now that there used to be.
yes I noticed that both this year & last .Before covid it would be 75>80%+ full every day .Now it is barely 30 odd %

There is new Dover Road after the first covid lockdown. Five vans in total, three living there including the large old Hymer in the corner and two of us heading south.
Very different times but we survived.

A big Hymer S990 Liner (like the one below), used to use the P&R overspill area often. I think his name was Julian, and he was a member of the Hymer Owners Group (HOG).
I spoke to him a couple of times when we've stayed over.

It's more often than not, our first and last stopover when leaving from, and returning to these shores, and been using it since it opened. A great facility. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

He did, we spoke to him last year. He is a high end antique furniture dealer ( so he said ) specializing in Danish furniture.
Nice chap showed us around his van very spacious . Told us about a similar motorhome available for sale in Germany used by Goodyear tyres in its day.

We used the P&R for the first time last night, plenty of room when we arrived at 11:30pm. Went throw barrier and quietly found a space, engine off and in bed 5 minutes later. I did hear another van coming in after midnight but they were very quiet and parked up and engine off in seconds, we left at 6 am this morning trying not to be noisy.
I would have waited 1/2 hour and go in after midnight so only pay for one day, £4 unless they have changed it back to how it was, pay per 24hours

It is per day arrive one day leave next £8
where can you get better value
It is good value but not if you arrive at 11.30 pm and leave at 6am😊

Arrive a bit earlier and you can get in a pint or two at the adjacent pub.
The 'extra' £4 then becomes worthwhile (unless you are from Yorkshire)
