New Corvid Rules for Portugal Travel

Re entry to Portugal by road, what kind of test is required, PCR or Lateral Flow?

Newby visitor to Portugal here. We'll be taking the roller coaster to Santander then driving into Portugal. With the new rules from 1/12 are there only certain places where you will be able to cross the border? Also, can we use ltf tests we take with us and email for results does anyone know, or will we have to test in Spain?
Was looking forward to this trip but hey ho.
Thanks
Exactly what I'm doing, remember only Fully Vaxed in Spain now, read all border crossing open, there will be Mobile Spot checks ( guessing non-Portuguese plated vehicles).

Arrive in Spain 4th Dec, drive towards Seville, stop the Night in Spain, then do the Private "Fit to Fly" Antigen test we brought with us, Email the Result and Pic of Passport back, result in the form of a certificate via email within 60mins....£44.60 for 3 tests...hopefully all Negative !

Thank you! We did those tests last Summer so will buy those again. We're coming out 13/12 and will probably have a few days in Spain before heading into Portugal. Had our boosters so all good.

Here’s the Portuguese law in full, issued yesterday.
Article 22 covers entry by land, which is basically the same as by air, but no idea other than spot checks how it will be enforced as there is no mention of border controls.

Read and enjoy😜

You haven't advised of your sailing date....but please be aware that as you are arriving into Santander, the new Spanish restrictions come into force on December 1st too.....I and others have posted on this forum what you need to know and need to show...cannot offer anything about Portugal restrictions other than what's posted on Fun.
What are any new restrictions if any when arriving in France and driving thru’ France/Spain into Portugal please.

So have I got this wrong, as I understood if one had driven down thru France and Spain you could just cross the border into Portugal with no additional tests at borders etc. TIA.

You will require a Negative Antigen test 48hrs or PCR 72Hrs before entry into Portugal via Air, Land, Sea or River Border.

Kazikot has replied to your question...
We live in Spain...if we wanted to visit Portugal then we must comply with their restrictions....

I'm confused by the logistics. I'm content to abide by the rules for entering Portugal from Spain by road but, in practical terms, how do we comply with the test requirements? We will arrive in Santander by ferry on day 2 of our journey, travel through Spain and arrived at the Portuguese border on day 4. How and from where do we get and do the tests?

I need an idiots step by step guide.

Firstly, where do you plan to cross from Spain into Portugal? If you plan to cross south at the coast from Spain into the Algarve, then I would Google test centres in Ayamonte, which is a largish town very near the border. You may be able to stop off there, get an antigen test done and enjoy a tapas lunch while you wait for your result before you head off over the bridge into Portugal.

If you read the all thread it's all there...

or as Twogirls stated, get a test anywhere between Santander and the Portuguese Border, there's a Clinic in Caseras that do them €50 each, result in 45mins...then you've got 48hrs to cross the Border...

Be interesting to see how they are going to police that on the only land border with Portugal from Spain
A terrible shame that it will need policing

I knew we should have given more vaccines to the less developed countries instead of setting them up as virus mutation farms . . . . still, I'm alright so bad luck anyone who isn't . . . .
Regardless of what the UK gave out to the less developed countries, you cannot polish a !urd!
South Africa only has a take up of 40% of vaccinations apparently.
Reap what ye sow.

We normally cross near Badajoz but I had thought of going a bit south and crossing Near Villanueva del Fresno for a change.

We are, aren't we.

I am glade that many have faith in a mRNA jab.
Evidence is coming to light that might be worth consideration.
Only in the last two days.
Leave it to others judgement

Just crossed into Portugal today by road. We weren't even sure where the actual border was, certainly no infrastructure or booths so i can't see that this is going to be widely policed.

Doesn't take effect until Wednesday 1st, I read they're going to use Mobile Spot check Units, and I'd guess they'll target Foreign Number Plated Vehicles...

Last year didn't they put concrete blocks in the roads to seal off all the minor ones ,leaving only specific crossing points able to be used?

Think that was when they closed the Border, as we were in Spain, All borders Crossings are open but need a Negative to cross into Portugal...

Different scenario now, no talk of borders closed or limiting travel into or out of Portugal just random checks at crossings.
