New camperstop near Cartagena

I still find it offensive, and while my wife and I enjoyed meeting up with many of you at the FFF meet and made a few good friends, it seems that there is a mindset among some members who regard those of us who enjoy the freedom to camp 'fer nowt' as well as enjoying the facilities of campsites as some kind of vermin. To me it seems strange to pay to use someones version of what I am driving about in. Most of our motorhoming is done away from this sceptered isle in towns and villages where we are welcomed with open arms, why? because we support the local economy. The UK is regarded as treasure island and tourists are seen as cash cows. We are members of the Camping and Caravan club and use the cs locations, we also use Brit Stops, so we are contributing to the local economy in a round about way, so to call me "Free Loading Tosser" because of this, is the sole reason for my wife and I leaving what we thought was a really pleasant motorhoming group

That’s a shame
The thread was about a new stopover and nothing more
I know, but there are always those who have their own agenda and care not about others. As an aside, we too have used this stopover in the past

Very sorry you feel that you have been offended personally, please dont take it that way, and reconsider your resignation to one of the most informative forums available, but you really do need to take some terminology with a fair pinch of salt, especially on Forums.
We "Funsters" are overall a helpful, friendly bunch, if someone goes too far, just move on and ignore them, just as we have to do in all walks of life, its your choice.
I can verify that on the very odd occasion that a member of MH Fun has upset me, they normally apologize, and I would be glad to either shake their hand, or maybe fine them!, with a beer token or two:D
There are two versions of the term FLT, you have been advised of shall we say, the ruder one, there is another much more socially acceptable version that is being put to the "social committee" at present which would suggest a more appropriate translation of FLT being "Free Loading Tourist"
It all depends on which side of the school bike shed you are stood at, front or rear:D
I am at the back having a fag with my mates:)
Best wishes
Les

I'm happy with what people want to do but I don't like FLT's condemning a good site because they view it expensive which it is not! everything is relative.
Some people especially wives prefer the perception of a safe location and facilities are a bonus. 15€ is very good and good luck to the site owners :clap2:thank you
I don't think anyone condemned it just said it's expensive for what it is, which it is.
As for the wives I can only speak for my own and she would rather be out in the wilds rather than on a site, she often wants to stay in places I'm not happy with.

For those of you who Might be interested, @jumartoo posted the information. New camperstop near Cartagena, THATS ALL, passing on via this forum, some information regarding Motorhoming in Spain. Just check it out if thats your sort of place.

There are times when I wonder if this is the friendly forum. Someone posts some info that might be of interest to some, and out come the trolls, complaining that a few €€€'s are going to break the bank. Get a life. Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut than to reveal yourself as an unpleasant troll.

@jumartoo thank you for posting the information above.
We hope to do Spain in the spring and have done Aires in France but have never been to Spain so the information of sites like these is very handy . We think €15 is a small amount to pay for facilities and security .
@oppy the term used for people who camp on land with no facilities and no charges is a bit of fun and I’m sure Irnbru didn’t mean you and your wife personally. I noticed you have been members since 2014 so you will have read many threads the term FLT comes up many times some of the kings of the free loaders are @Northernraider and @JJ  please rethink and carry on being members of this lovely forum.(y)

I think the context of the ‘FLT’ term on this forum tends to be somewhat generic and colloquial in nature, tending to be ‘tongue in cheek’ and not typically intended to offend or specifically target you or anyone else individually. But that’s just my perception.

As near as a term of endearment :)

Not always ....go read the Aldi thread:)

I know you love the term!!
In the light hearted sense yes because I can and do make fun of myself.

But there is also the venomous approach that some may take and that isn't quite so fun.

Anyway there's some of these guys lost the ability to be a tosser without medical intervention :p

But no me cause am still a wean on this forum :p

Anyone need one? I have some spare.

Thanks Jumartoo! Looks good to us and we will definitely try it out in the New Year.
Thx from a pair( occasionally) of FLTs:whistle:

Yep, I'm proud to be one.

If you want a place to park for the night I don't see the point of paying over the odds, when I don't need the facilities.

In the UK in the car I won't pay for parking rather park out of town and spend 10 or 20 minutes walking in. Different reason matter of principle, Councils sting businesses for high rates then want people to use the shops so they can carry on charging then. Then they charge you to park to use the shops. Fed up with them ripping everyone off.

some of the kings of the free loaders are @Northernraider and @JJ

My people are insistent that I must point out to Fun Forum Members (aka Funsters) that I was free loading in my motorhomes for years and years before Mr Northernraider got behind the wheel of his first one.

(but then I am much older.)

Never the less...

Off Site Motorhomers (aka FLT's) ROOL.

JJ

Not condemning the site Andy, just the price. There are plenty of good sites for well under 15€

I must be the opposite to a FLT as when in Spain for the Winter I pay €11.5 a night for a nice large serviced pitch and 1 Euro a day for tv and Internet.
Alright if you want to stay in one place, we bought a Motorhome to travel we rarely stay in one place for more than one or two nights then you get ripped off €20 or €30 for a night. Then they add insult to injury, on an Aire arrive at 4pm pay €5 and stay until 4pm next day. Do that on a site and they will charge you two days so €40 - €60 compared to €5 and you wonder why I hate sites

@oppy I'm (usually) an FLT simply because it's quicker than typing Off-Site Overnighter on my phone!
But like you, I'm also happy to pay if I need anything or want to meet up with others or want to park up securely for a few days.
I know a few people use FLT offensively but so they do with other terms and these people often have a scathing view of any opinion or way of life other than their own. Being a glass-half-full sort of person, I prefer to read more positive posts.
Mostly the term FLT is used fondly and with a bit of fun in mind, like calling your friend a daft sod, and when I use it - including about myself - I always have an internal smile as well as one on my face. :)

I’m sometimes scathingly referred to as a dwarf as opposed to a person vertically challenged
