nasty accident in Skye

Bit judgmentall let's have him in prison locked up and awaiting exicution
LOL, overreaction much? Need to work on your sarcasm I think.

Not denying its judgemental at all, so what? I based my opinion on the 2 most likely scenarios leading to the crash which appears not to involve another vehicle. As already said if you'd bothered to read the whole thread you'll see others have added other scenarios which at the time i'd not thought of and are less likely (but possible) causes which I've acknowledged.

Only the "crashees" know or may know the actual cause as they are witness to the event, whether they can or will enlighten us, time will tell.

Need to work on your sense of humour I think!

Do i though? There was nothing humorous about his statement, it was clearly a dig.
But you're always good at having a go too so .........

Edited to remove statement that may contravene using the ignore function.

Anyone got any contingency for such a situation. We book the chepest possible ferry, insurance and get us home contract but do you read the small print and give thought to what a situation like the one on Skye would be like if it happend overseas. How would you get over the first hours/days having lost everything, your accomodation your transportation your belongings and every bit of personnal baggage. Even your computer phones and insurance policies could have been lost what would you do.
Tip top Insurance is vital along with your own contingency of recovery should any desaster happen. Any thoughts.

Personally, insurance yes but I have a contingency credit card with over £2000 to use if necessary. If Im alive I'll be thankful and happily use the money on it to get home.

Enough in the bank to back the debit card for an ambulance flight home. That is self insurance.

Be Well insured and carry a number of cards with high value credit available air ambulance home from Europe can start at £20,000 , a family member needed it when knocked off their bike , one of the worst things was communication understanding Doctors when they speak English is hard enough let alone when they are trying to give you updates in their own language, Interpreters cost and can be expensive
For a year my parents travelled without insurance, the agreement was that they would not be ill but die as it was cheaper thankfully ...............................

Depends on your attitude towards risk. All insurance companies pay out a lot less than they collect or they'd go bust. We generally go for minimal insurance and accept the risk.

Us too. I find it pretty amazing that people have motorhomes recovered all the way back to UK following mechanical failure, most of the base vehicles being of European manufacture.

It's like they think only people in Britain are able to fix them despite there being so many more motorhomes in Europe than the UK.

Bit catty in this thread eh meeeeooooww

Something to think about though eh

IF the driver did crash because he was going to fast or not paying attention he is hardly going to come on here and admit that is he?

So saying it wasn't the cause is neither here nor there. People will make their own minds up on that till its proved either way.

Have my holiday insurance plus the RAC cover on the van plus my Revolut account gives me cover so pretty sure I will get home if needed😁
Cannot understand anyone who travels abroad without insurance!!

Until I see these threads it doesn't even enter my head about insurance ?

the van is covered by ADAC which also does medical repatriation by air if I needed it. Also my spanish vehicle insurance covers the same as adac except the air ambulance.

winds me up when you see these people doing a ‘go fund me‘ page to pay for their medical care,, buy insurance you dummy and you won’t have to beg, they pay a fortune for a holiday and won’t pay a few quid on insurance 🤬🤬🤬

You see that kind of e begging on YouTube.
“ hey guys our van broke down . Please support us so we can continue the journey “

It’s amazing that people are gullible enough to fund these idiots. In some cases they make many thousands of £/$s .
