Rally 'Music & Mechanicals' meet 1st - 4th July 2016 - Bubble Car Museum, Nr Langrick, South Lincs

Thank you all you ceilidh dancers. That was fun, we might get to do another few later and burn the dinner calories off. Fingers crossed it stays dry.View attachment 113500
Stay where you are for now Sandra & Co, as it,s all coming in overhead and it's a bit wild here on the pitch.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Today is best described as breezy. It's making these little planes wobble about a bit on take off! Sun is shining though - for now.

Funsters all assembled - except for @triclops - hope they are ok, or have I missed a cancellation post somewhere? Can't find one, so I hope all is ok with them. We now await a further influx of local musicians this afternoon to complete the party. It is threatening to rain just about the time we had planned to be dancing on the grass, so plans are fluid - probably literally! Like the music, we will play it by ear.

I PMed you on May 22 to let you know that we wouldn't be able to come - would rather be with you than at the hospital :whatthe::whatthe:
Hope you all have a magic time:drinks:

Oops I think I have stolen a chair!

Small blue folding chair looked just like mine but on arrival back at van I now have 2 instead of one .......how embarrassing. !!...so sorry to whoever it belongs I will return it tomorrow morning to the cafe

Another smashing night at @TheCaller's Music & Mechanics Meet.

Pachelbel Canon played by those two children, made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It was wonderful to listen to, and from such young talent too. (y) Others played melodies, with lots of jigs and reels thrown in. It really was a smashing evening, and Rita and I would like to thank Simon & Jane for organising and setting up the meet. We'd love to do it all again sometime. (y)

We'll be shooting off this morning, but not before I've had either the bacon rolls, or the full cooked breakfast. Decisions, decisions. :LOL

BTW, it's a beautiful sunny morning here in Boston, Lincs. :)

Cheers for now,

Jock. :)

With all the fun you lot are having we are really disappointed that we were unable to make it . Please stop posting any more pictures showing happy smiling funsters enjoying themselves as it is making us very jealous.:D

I will have to have a word with Simon and Jane @TheCaller next I seem them about making you lot so happy. :D Think that will be at the Railway meet in September.

BTW Sandra @irnbru I don't include your latest photo in the above rant. You would not get me up in one those single engined contraptions!! To many reports of pilots and passengers being killed, and they always give their age!!

Ah - so you did. Found it now. That arrived while we were meandering back from the Falkirk meet & it looks like I forgot to update my main list when we finally got home. Sorry about that - hospital may not be the ideal place to be, but at least you are not broken down by the side of the road, or worse, which I was beginning to worry about.

10.30? It was after 2am when we wandered back to the vans. Mind you, we had put the clubhouse back in some sort of order by then so they could serve breakfast to the early morning flyers.

As others have said, the flying club have been brilliant in the welcome they have given us. Mind you, they have genuinely enjoyed our presence & have commented on what nice bunch of people funsters are. They would welcome us back for another visit - even offering to clear some hanger space if required now they know us well enough to know we wouldn't mess with their planes.

As well as Sandra, Rob (Mr Anthea M) was invited for a passenger flight, so that was two very happy funsters.

My thanks go to all the musicians, both funsters (Alan, Joy & Ron) & to those locals who came to play with us. I say local - Steve & family came down from Barton-on-Humber, right across the other side of the county. All the musicians enjoyed the occasion & send their thanks to the funsters who made them so welcome.

Sorry - Rob, not Ron.

Sandra's mum got a flight too, I understand, so that's three! I did enquire about proper Air Experience flights, where you fly with an instructor & get a bit of hands on flying, but they were fully booked for the next three weeks.

Well there's just a few of us stragglers left here on site and the weather is lovely......

The breeze dropped last night and we were serenaded al fresco by Joy & Alan @Fantini for a couple of hours......it was lovely.....unfortunately I was so chilled out by then I forgot to take any pics:doh:

Anyway, we just wanted to say thanks, it was great & we've had a really good time & enjoyed meeting folk, always nice to put faces to names:).

Want to thank everyone who's been here & Simon & Jane for coming up with the idea & arranging the musicians & finding an alternative location at late notice. @TheCaller

Looking forward to next year;)(y)

There are two blue folding chairs left by the shelter we had in the middle of the semi-circle. They don't look in the best of health - one has a broken joint & the same joint on the other one is going the same way.

I don't want to transport them around the country if they were destined for the skip anyway, but happy to take them to Hartlepool, possibly for onward transmission, if the owner would like to keep them.

Any claimants?

Thanks to Simon and Jane for a great weekend. The location worked out wonderful and you done great to find it at such short notice. Please pass on our thanks to all the musicians funsters and friends. Mum also says to say they also loved the weekend and we hope there is a rerun next year.
Thanks to the ceilidh dancers who contributed to the fun and a massive thanks to all who took part in the" Find the dog" after he escaped from the MH.

I'm so pleased that you two decided to come in the end - you & your music made a major contribution to the success of the weekend. I'm sure you will be in demand elsewhere once word gets out!

I'd also like to reiterate my thanks to Rob for some fairly stunning fiddle playing. Most of you had gone to bed when Jamie, Sue & Rob were getting into some jazz style improvisation - Rob's ability to improvise around a melody is impressive. Rob also lent Sue a fiddle for the evening - the grin on her face suggested that he was lucky to get it back! :)

Many, many thanks @TheCaller ..Simon and Jane and all the musicians for a superb weekend. Can only repeat the pleas of others that it is ON for next year! Such pleasant people at the aerodrome and handy having the inside space due to the weather misbehaving at times.
Sorry for all the peeps who had to cancel they missed a treat.(y)
Jude.
