Mud Flaps - Worthwhile?

Well main reason was the fitment, as wanted a nice tight fit and cosmetically wanted the front to look factory and not foul my height levellers when trying to drive up.
Think it's up to the owner's affordability really, do you spend £40 or £100???
My van was brand new, so wanted it to look it's best to retain value !
Good point. I like what you did with the rear flaps too - food for thought.

Lost one of my rear ones reversing up as well. I had some 4mm rubber sheet in the garage so made one out of that, it's stayed on for the last year.
I had wondered whether one of those HGV anti spray ones could be adapted to fit, there's always plenty of them on the road verges.
Mike.

We have them as the rear wheels were causing the wooden floor to get soaked (Well we live in Britain)
I took a pair of Nissan X Trail rear carpet protectors (WE did try to sell them in 2016) cut them down to fit after treating the wood with protector /Hardener last year - this year the Service guy was impressed with the improvement we had

THEN in January reversing on to a pitch at Camping El Torres I ripped one of the from ones off - - -Ended up getting a set of cheap ones that cost less for 4 than one Original Fiat one

SO the answer is yes fit them
No 👎 Fiat front are the perfect size, and if fixed correctly like mine and Orions (Both Adria) they do the job intended. I found the extra 2 self tapper retainers and stikaflexing the top edge to keep it all snug really helped, no effect going up and down a kerb or any gradients. They are rubber so will give a little if they bent either way 🤷‍♂️

👉#42👈 Take a look 🧐 Rear truck flaps also stop all the crap building up, never get any mud splat's at all, so easy wipe over at sites 👌
Pic in-between Niece and Monaco and still mint baller . . .

Amazon has apparently genuine front and rear Ducato flaps, for a relatively "reasonable" £ 66 and £ 70. The sting in the tail is that each comes with an £ 18.99 delivery charge, from Germany...

The rear flaps from Fiat in the UK are £ 99. Front ones £ 104.

So £ 203 from the UK supplier. £ 174 delivered from a supplier in Germany. And potentially c. £ 136 if one lives in Germany?

Wow they've shot up in last few months since I bort my Fiat front flaps £81.99 off Ebay.
Don't think you will find Fiat offer rear motorhome flaps, only the van with metal arches, as mine are flappy plastic arch extensions. 😉

Cheers 🍺 Paul I enjoyed doing sorting them out, only thing was I got the size ba k to front 30x40 not 40x30 but easy enough to trim down with a stanley knife 🙈 Drilled 3 x holes for screws then filled with sikaflex, after fitting applied more sealant then applied waxoyl spray to seal ! Graphics off Ebay for a few quid, then cler lacquerd over after application to seal from weather 👌

The genuine Fiat Ducato mudflaps I sourced from EBay were <£60, and when installed with a bead of mastic twixt flap and wheel arch - before using the supplied clips/clamps - have fitted really well.

Like you I bought fiat ones on ebay in early march for £50 delivered. I also put a load of sealant/adhesive on then clamped the mudflap to the contour of the body for 24 hours before fixing with bolts thru' existing holes in the arch and the supplied clamp beneath the sill. Improved both the appearance and reduced the muck.

Have a really good dig around on eBay and elsewhere on the interweb and you should be able to source the genuine Fiat front mudflaps for around £60 as per Kenp and myself.

I’ve seen some for £66 but says for left hand drive only
Surely there’s no difference
Also says ducato 250
Seen others say 290
Are they different then

I'd be grateful if you can point me in the right direction. Mine is both left hand drive and ducato 250!

They should fit fine but not OE Genuine as say's (Brand) AG Automotive. Still worth a try with saving around £20 or so, and they look an exact copy of my Fiat one's 👌

They had the same code

I've just fitted a pair of genuine Fiat front flaps to our Series 8 Ducato PVC. Got ours from Partsworld-uk.com for 81.99 with free express 24 hour delivery. Although Fiat describe them as fitting the 250 they seem to fit the later versions perfectly.

Four mudflaps fitted Timberland, factory fitted Fiat.

The roads around us during winter are covered in mud from tractors and farm machinery using the roads.. the electric step gets covered, I have to wash it out almost weekly ..

So do they work.. to some degree.. do they stop the step getting clogged up.. No
and the van still gets covered with road dirt.

Same here, Partsworld series 8 2022-23 250/290 perfect fit, other than sealing upper part to close small gaps !
No Fiat logo on them like some spurious non oe R🙏P off's.

From the photo, at first sight, they do not look like the Fiat flap as there is no fairing onto the outside of the wheelarch. Perhaps it's the angle of the photo or Fiat offer a variety of flaps.

I agree they look cheap and nasty, hard plastic copies with Ducato stamped on them 🤷‍♂️
Can you see and appreciate the difference, these are Orions but mine are the same.

yes, but the wider fairing won't stop mud spraying underneath the body and onto the step ..
They seem to work on our low profiles, so why wouldn't they work on your pvc, as front wings/arches are the same???
My hab step and van sides are alway's mint, only my cab step get's a bit shitty, white sealant is the worst get's sooty, possibly brake dust 🙈 so I clean the sealant with brake cleaner, work's well for me 👌

Yes, same ... but as I said, our roads are really dirty at this time of year .. wet and muddy .. no big deal cleaning the step , off with the front and bottom covers and wash out with a hose.. the dirt gets onto the step rails and nylon guide bushes jamming it.

Wow ! Sorry as that's not good at all, only thing I can think off, is make a plastic shield/cowling at sides to protect it. Then will only need washing off when you clean the van 🤷‍♂️

Sorry to drag up an old thread but…

I’ve got some genuine Fiat front mudflaps coming for our Ducato PVC and reading this thread, it seems like I might need some Sikaflex 522 to make it proper job when I’m fitting them.

My questions though is as my van is white and the mudflaps are black, is white or black Sikaflex best to use?

Any thoughts please?

P.S. As a bonus question, as my van is on a Maxi chassis with 16” wheels, I don’t think that the genuine Fiat flaps will on fit the rear… am I correct?

I’d like to fit rear flaps (as well as the front ones I’m getting) if I can but they have to look good and I’d prefer to use genuine Fiat if they’d fit or there is such a thing.
