This is probably aimed at those of you that spend a long time away in your motorhome/ camper. I'm looking at Caravan Guard for insurance for our new van. The online quote limits us to 11,000 miles a year. I'm going to ask them about increasing this but how do the long distance travellers get on? With a trip to Greece overland next year via Croatia, Montenegro and Albania we will be putting on some miles. They said they can quote me for extra miles, so will talk to them tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

Comfort do ask for mileage. They charged me over £90 to increase from 8k to 10k. Read your docs carefully. Aliva are my underwriters
Increased mine with Comfort about 3 years ago, 8k to 10k got charged £30 + £20 admin.

No data for vans under 3 years old.
No but all they would need to do is ask for the mileage. If it was say just before 1st MOT they would just divide by 3 or at 2 years divide by 2, also ask for your service book to check maybe. I doubt they are too bothered but obviously more miles equals more risk of accident and maybe theft.

I know they ask you what mileage you do or want to do in a year but what I mean is they do not ask for the mileage on your Speedo on the date of the start of your insurance so they have no idea how many miles you have done in the year.

Maybe your experience is different but I have never told them how many miles are on my van.
In the event of a claim it is possible/probable that they will check the mileage on a mot.

As I have said several times now. Vehicles less than 3 years old don't have mot's
