Just to make it clear . This video isn’t mine and I do not know these people . I just found it shocking that this happened .

Where oh where are the Coppers like SGT Cox? Cornish Wrestling Champ for several years, gave him lip? he gave you a thick ear! No wishy washy BS about Human rights!

Dont give a toss what anyone says! "THEY" have lost the trust of the ordinary people, they are frauds!

Coppers? Look at them! dressed like scruffy oiks! OR! weekend RAMBOS!! tHE ONLY TIME YOU SEE THEM IS ON TELLY, on the w/end policing drunks druggys and loudmouth souped up kids politely asking Fu****ts to move on!

I despair!

So an offence of criminal damage is committed, there are no witnesses, no CCTV and no forensic evidence on which to form a basis for arrest let alone a prosecution. In other words a no hoper. So can you enlighten us as to how you would you detect this crime. Note the word detect, not prevent which is an entirely different matter.

I can see some people in the thread feel they were over dramatic. Personally I do agree the video is long winded but I think they are genuinely traumatised over the event . I know I would probably find it really difficult to deal with something like that , which is exactly why we wouldn’t stay somewhere like that overnight.

I'm never entirely happy with wildcamping although we have done it a lot - mostly abroad. (Spain, France, Italy, Germany)

I am a very light sleeper and hear all the comings and goings in the night and generally imagine the worst is about to happen. - On the other hand my wife just snores on through - which is why she seems quite happy to do it.

We've had a few instances of noisy youths in the middle of the night and other cars just pulling up and stopping for a while but never any interest in us specifically. At the top of Mt Etna recently there was a local car meet at 12am. Speed tests, tyre smoking the lot. It didn't feel so bad as there were around 10 motorhomes there and the lads weren't interested in us. It was just annoying for an hour or so.

One incident we did have was parked on the edge of a very quiet country lane near a German town that had a festival on. At midnight a loud couple of bangs on the side of the van. Some drunk youths cycling home from town banged the van as they passed. Went back to sleep. An hour later another bang. The wife looked out of the bedroom window. He was on the floor. Stood up - staggering around. totally pissed. It was quite comical! We discovered in the morning we were parked at the entrance to a cycle way!

Personally I feel safer in well lit car parks. I think dodgy people are less likely to do something.

Never mentioned this before as I just don't know what happened, but about three years ago we were parked on a layby in Kent somewhere, just off a late tunnel, in the night I was wakened by a bang, but nothing else happened so went back to sleep.
Next morning I was sitting on the toilet and pulled the curtain back and the window was like a broken windscreen all shattered but in one piece.
On investigation outside there was a small round hole where it all broke from about the size of an air rifle pellet, but havnt a clue why or how it was done and why a side window and not one of the front ones.
Anyway ambulance side windows are standard things and a new one was quite cheap and easy to fit so never really thought much about it since, but it will always be a mystery.

A little bit of sparkplug ceramic and a catapult. Will break any glass.

In fact in the UK you can make a citizens arrest and hold until the police arrive!

These days you will probably have a long wait, and if the Police do arrive and deem that an offence hasn't been committed, then you are deep in the brown stuff!

We were and are affected by it. Some may find it boring or think it’s staged. ( we live in a cynical world) Just hope those guys hung around long enough to find out the facts that may stop them ending up in the same position. Safe travels

We had a sliding door window smashed in Portugal they attacked a French van as well. I suspect it was a teenager who we had seen running away we had seen her before and noticed she was away with the fairies a little not a real problem I taped up both windows for me and the French motorhome. It did bother me at the time a little, would I stay there again like a shot or else they have won we stayed another night at the time we are booked to go back to Portugal January and February. We cannot afford campsites so wildcamp all the time and never really felt threatened if we don't like the place there's plenty of places to stay. Keep safe everyone the world is not as bad as YouTube make out.

Please consider joining this forum as a full member . Lots of advice and friendly people here and no rudeness or name calling like the face ache type of threads . We have a lot of club rallies which offer good value and in my opinion safety in numbers .

The other van at the park up has posted a review on S4S confirming the attack, so we should be putting to bed that it was a setup for Youtube theories.

We are not a bad bunch, but we get a bit carried away sometimes.

we certainly won’t be using car parks like that one again. We didn’t take into account that that area is so bad. Naively we thought we would trust Searchforsites. Won’t make that mistake again. At the moment we feel that we will change our camping habits and use CL’s and pub stops. But real out of the way places like Skye, Arran and Brecon Beacons type places are something we are still considering. Happy to answer any questions about the validity of this video but the length and the “drawn out story “ is what it is. Every viewer of the video has an exit button. I also despise click bait. This isn’t click bait.

We have a bit of banter about some of the YouTube channels and some of the poor advice given on electronic installations etc but we also have members that really enjoy meeting the YouTube “ stars “ . Have a look in the Rally section for the Warners shows next year we have our own club area at all the shows ( I think ) .
It’s a great way to get to meet other members and in my opinion they are good value for money

and glad to hear you weren't injured. I grew up in Altrincham the nearest town to the incident. It is a lovely area and nearby to where you parked is Dunham Massey NT site and Dunham Park. But I don't expect you'll be rushing back anytime soon.
I guess this sort of thing can happen anywhere and you were probably just unlucky to encounter some brain dead idiots.

The thing is it only takes one random incident. Maybe there had never been a problem there before. It was said (i think - i may be wrong) that youths sometimes came there to hang out in their cars? That's the type of thing that puts me off. We use Park4night, search for sites and google. If I find anything negative we won't go. I like to see 5 or 6 recent 4 or 5 star reviews before I will go somewhere. Even then - who knows?

Regarding you tube bloggers. I watch quite a few - canal boats, cycling, travel - I do get the feeling most motorhome ones are not great. Often presenters come over as a little nerdy, boring and often long and repetitive, like they are jut filling time! I watched to the end of this one but I did skip a lot on the way through. 2 minutes was enough to get the gist of it.

There are some great vloggers out there but it takes skill to keep it interesting and to the point. I've yet to find a good motorhome vlogger. Would be interested in suggestions.

Some are a little quirky but ones I like are

Camper vibe - good quality photography, production and humour
Tread the globe - down to earth likeable couple
Extreme Motorhome Adventures - only found this one recently but they seem enthuiastic and have a lot of fun

Yes it would be distressing to experience this, but see it for what it probably really was… a bunch of youngsters out for the night and thinking it’ll be a laugh to throw some bricks at a van to wake up and scare the occupants and run away and that’s the point I’m trying to make they are cowards and probably just as scared that they may get caught, to them it was a laugh to you it was rightly frightening… you was just unlucky to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and you’d probably never experience anything like it again….

It wasn’t a personal attack on you and that’s how to try to view it…. Get back on that horse…
