I've bought a 2007 B544 which has a rack fitted by a German manufacturer. I've got no instructions for it but was assured by the dealer that all I had to do was release a clip on each side and it would unfold and slide out giving a wheel trough and back lights/number plate.
I can see it folded up behind the rear valance but cant for the life of me get it to unfold and slide out without badly snagging the rear moulding and I obviously dont want to force it.
Has anyone got one fitted and know how it works please?

Woohoo! Sussed it!
When the rack slides IN, the motorbike wheel trough follows guides behind the rear skirt which fold it up behind the skirt. Trouble is, if it folds too far, it'll jam in place and stop the rack being slid OUT. To stop that, they've put a metal bracket which only allows it to fold so far. The bracket had bent out of the way slightly and allowed the trough to fold too far and jam itself behind the bracket............errr, which was supposed to stop it doing that!
Solution? Extend the bracket by 25mm and beef it up to stop it bending in future. RESULT!!!!
Now my big problem is to convince Mrs Zaskar that we go back to a scooter for sight seeing cos I really REALY cant be bothered trailering a car round Spain..........when we eventually get back to going down there!

I always fancied a go on one of them. A proper hoot from all accounts. Too heavy for our rack unfortunately and Mrs D prefers the scooter. I bet the 390 would be an absolute ripper in the Alps or Pyrenees.
Yes it's great, funny in Benidorm with the silly low speed limits zipping through the gears blowing away all the scooter riders 🤩 and standing up for the speed humps makes them totally ineffective 🤪

I ride slow though with Aneta on the back 😇

Titter ye not. I spent 3 weeks in a hospital bed next to a near suicidal biker with shredded arm, hand and leg who was knocked off in shorts and tee shirt in town at 20mph whilst 'nipping out' to get a sandwich and had already been hospitalised for 6 months with, in addition to the impact injuries, infected grafts and graft donor sites. Lost his income as a self-employed plasterer and in danger of losing his flat - wife and two young kids visiting every evening.

Yep we know the risks but when its 35c on the Med its probably safer to wear shorts and flip flops than it is end up with heat exhaustion in full gear. No different to cyclists flinging down mountains in Lyrca really. We were quite young when we started motorhoming all over Europe with a scooter and the joy of just flying around Lake Annecy or St Tropez and leaping off the bike into the water then back on the bike again was all we thought about. Never gave a second though to the risks. We have had a couple of offs though over the years. I'd still rather take the risk and enjoy the freedom.
