Morocco 2022

Hi we are keen to go to Morocco in Jan 22, if anyone else is still thinking about it.

I see ferry Algeciras to Ceuta is running - is there any problem then getting across the border into Morocco?

Apparently the land borders are still closed.

We read the same, and so are waiting to see if it changes as of tomorrow.

I just read that they were closed until October 31st - has that been extended?
The Moroccans have extended the state of emergency to Nov30 and although not the official reason for closing them it doesn't bode well.

An article about it in the Independent yesterday

We are hoping to go in January/February (for the first time) if it’s possible to cross from Spain. Other crossing options are not so attractive as we will be in Portugal. So happy to keep in touch with other funsters with similar plans. Free green card including Morocco with our insurers AIB, if anyone is interested.

If the Algeciras to Tangier Med doesn't open up the ferry from Genoa to Tangier Med stops at Barcelona. I tried to book just Barcelona to Tangier Med and it let me, so this could be an option. We are in Croatia at moment and so are likely to get the Genoa crossing in early Jan and would be happy to meet others on the ferry or once in Morocco 🙂

The ferry stops in Barcelona for freight.
You can't get on despite a website saying you can buy a ticket.
You can only go via Sete or Genoa

Quick update on ferries as we were querying Moroccan entry requirements that required you to have a pcr test before and during the ferry crossing. They confirmed that if you are travelling from a European port then evidence of vaccination is all that is required.
They also confirmed that you can book the Barcelona to Tangiers Med ferry and the return leg with motorhome and quoted prices for this.

Just read the above back - it should state we spoke directly to GNV ferries -(sorry for any confusion)

Jain Carlos is usually in the know ,therefore, the following is positive news.

Looks as if I won't be going in January, just sold the house and looking at completion mid January, so I'll be a bit busy ☹️

New entry requirements for Morocco

Restrictions in response to coronavirus

Entry and borders

You will need to provide proof that you have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with the second dose administered at least two weeks prior to travel, and a negative PCR test result before boarding your flight or ferry to Morocco. The result must show that the PCR test itself was undertaken no more than 48 hours before boarding. For travel by ferry, you will also need to take a COVID-19 test during the journey. Children under the age of 11 years old are exempt from the PCR testing requirement for entry into Morocco.

On arrival to Morocco, you will be asked to present a completed Public Health Passenger form. You can print a copy in advance of travelling. In addition, and following an official announcement on Saturday 13th November, you will also have your temperature taken and be asked to do a rapid antigen test (provided free of charge) immediately upon arrival in Morocco. If you test positive and are not a permanent resident of Morocco, your airline will be required to arrange for you to immediately leave Morocco. A Moroccan resident testing positive would be transferred to a public health care facility. Children under 11 are exempt from this testing requirement.

Travellers transiting through third countries should ensure they consult FCDO Travel Advice for that country for the latest COVID-19 related travel and transit guidance.

My wife broke her ankle Christmas Eve so we are going nowhere for at least 6 weeks. Absolute bummer!

Hate to say it, but it will be more like 12 weeks before she can even start to walk unaided on anything other than very short distances on the flattest of ground.

Basically Eater before you can start to move (a bit)

Just need to get her to be able to get in and out of the motorhome. We bought an electric tricycle this year so hoping that will help with strengthening her ankle with some gentle bike rides

Hospital appointment in the morning. It is the fibula that is broken but not completely near the bottom. Kind of a bit sheared off. Will have to see what they say. Hoping she will quickly get to a moon boot or similar.

A friend of mine broke his ankle very badly and was cycling gently a few weeks later with a boot on. He is a mad keen cyclist though

Seriously, we’ve just docked in Patras, Greece, and then sailing to Crete on Saturday, then the schengen shuffle to Turkey next month. As we can’t do Morocco this year, we always wanted a winter plan B, so this is it and we’ll see 🤞🤞

It’s doubtful Türkiye will be as warm as Maroc this time of year unles you intend to motor down as far as Mersin or Adana.

However, down that far and you’re faced with the proximity of various other conflicts.

You could take the ferry from Taşucu to Girne (Kyrenia) Kuzey Kibris (North Cyprus) where you would have a better chance with the weather.

görüşürüz 👍

That’s sounds great, have you been to north Cyprus in a camper?
