Morocco 2022

I'd love to be able to say that we were planning on going to Morocco this winter, but the Moroccan government has suspended flights to the country, from a whole list of other countries, including Spain and France. Ferries from Spain are also suspended.
I know that we're looking a good few months into the future, but I just can't be optimistic enough to contemplate free travel to the country, this winter :(.

I hope I am proved wrong.

Anyone thinking of going Jan 2022 yet?

Probably a bit early to decide but just thinking ahead - hopefully pandemic will be in the rear window. We have been a couple times before with Desert Detours but hoping to perhaps cross over with someone else for company at least through the border so thought I would start a thread.
We are definitely considering this now and travelling along casually with others does have appeal particularly when some of those have previous experience of Morocco as this gives reassurance to my other half.

Watching with a strong interest as this is the only way we can continue to only spend 3 months of Summer in the UK.

Yep...hoping to do first Morocco trip 2022..went for Greece this year due to Morocco Covid chaos 2021......still here ! ...got Saga insurance as Safeguard stopped issuing Green Card....meanwhile a summer of sun in Europe...

Yes good idea. Sorry to hear of your current mechanical woes prevent your appearance at Midsummer Show....
Following on from my original post our elderly dog wont be around much longer as his back legs are no longer playing the game and so we are unfortunately steeling ourselves for that event when we see his quality of life is not there, so Morocco 2022 is becoming much more of a probability now.
Hope the repairs go to plan

A French language morocco motorhome forum I follow (thank goodness for google translate) posted a news article saying that the portugal to morocco ferry should be running by the end of next month.

Could you provide a link to the French forum please, I'd like to have a read.

For those of you making a first trip I would advise to watch and wait until the seasoned Moroc Funsters decide to return. A Morocco thread will start around November and you will be able to see what the general consensus is for overwintering in Maroc from these guy's. As for us, we will be giving it a miss again this coming winter and hoping to return the following winter.

It will be a different ballgame if none of the Spanish ferries are running. Im not sure I fancy even 7 hours across the atlantic in January especially not in an Acciona boat. Afaik its 24 hoursish from Sete

Lifesure insurance issue a free green card when you insure with them and the are not expensive

Didn’t check as swmbo would not go there. I just remember the girl saying that we include a free green card. I know that a yellow card is a warning and a redone means you’re sent off but what does a green card mean. That you can cross the desert?

Still amber list right now. Third/fourth wave being threatened.

I guess all in the balance still?

I did read this earlier but l do not have proof of the source.

Yesterday it was announced on the news that the Moroccan King put an end to the division with Spain, and that it starts a new stage of good relations. So i bet the ferry line and the borders of Ceuta and Melilla will open soon.

High on our “must do list” but not 2022, a bit too early due to awaiting hip surgery etc. 2023 sounds great for us.
Scandinavia in summertime also high on the list. Maybe in 2022 for that one. Can’t wait to start European travel again.

Scandanavia is absolutely beautiful in the Summer. I did it last year in early September - fantastic trip

Definitely on my "highly likely" plan to cross over January 2022 to spend a few weeks so keen to know who might be going. SWMBO may be flying so potentially will be on my lonesome at the border and having seen what its like it would be good to have some company for that bit at least.

Being a Scandi Noir devotee, I would steer well clear of Scandinavian Summers and the sites. Every one with any decency gets murdered, like Midsomer Murders but without the Gardening Club, Choir and WI ... (y)

I’d like to think one day we’ll think about going over to Morroco if only to be able to extend the 90 day trip

It’s somewhere we’ve never been and never wanted to tbh, does it have the coastal sites near to towns like Spain has. Is it safe enough, are the locals friendly, how much is the ferry from Spain and how long is it as the missus doesn’t do boats
Al 👍
