Morocco 2020

That's a big increase...................I think last year it was only........ that's "ONLY" £250 for 90 days.

I need to check wth them tomorrow as we're looking forward to going again in 2020

Morocco seams to have lost it's appeal, going off how few Funsters are saying they're heading there for sure??

I think Brexit and increased Green Card costs are causing some to think twice at this time but most Funsters I know who have been including myself continue to return and every year we have new members dipping their toe. It really is a magical place to visit.

We're planning on going (y). We intended to go last year, but dental problems meant that we couldn't get away early enough. I hope, by posting this, that I'm not tempting fate :cautious: . We're hoping to cross to France on 10th Jan, and spend a couple of weeks driving down through France and Spain. I'm counting the days. :D

Just some information for those thinking of going for the first time next year..............

We've just got the Green Card for 90 days in Morocco from Comfort at £220 and a free green card for EU travel in the event of you know what.It offers fully comprehensive cover and chance to reclaim any breakdown payment.

International Driving Permits for France "in case of ******" Spain will accept photocard licenses for at least 6 months I think.

After searching around Camping and Caravan Club offered the best house insurance with 180 day unoccupied and no conditions. They also offered the best travel insurance at a flat rate of £102 each for 180 days including Morocco. Cover for high blood pressure and cholesterol was an additional £9.

All sorted leaving 5 January and will try the Eastern France route through Millau......unless bad weather reports.

See you there........Insh'allah

We've changed our Bilbao ferry to Jan 12 so after a stop for a few sherry's in Jerez we could be on time for a meet up somewhere.

How did you get the Green Card for 90 days for £220? Comfort seem to be quoting many others £53.60 for the first week green card and £33.60 subsequent weeks ie about £452

I was quoted by aib/aviva £33.60 a week but they did ask if over 3.5t.

Again she did ask if we were over 3.5 and went away and came back with that figure. Possibly it is cheaper if you are larger (can't see that) or depends on the value of your van.
I am sure I read somewhere that it is limited to 50% of your annual policy which is about right for us. Those figures I think quoted by billym did seem excessive.
Let's see how TerryL gets on with his quote but don't mention my name !!!

I think there is a maximum charge at least that was the case with Aviva last year.

Our insurance is due for renewal mid December. Safeguard categorically refused a green card for Maroc this time, despite providing me with one last year for 3 months.

Comfort gave me a quote for new insurance which was reasonable in comparison to what I was expecting £480, however their 3 month green card was almost as much, £450 odd.

I have settled on Saga's 3 year fixed price comprehensive insurance at £473, two named drivers, including RAC recovery in UK and Europe (not Maroc) and with £50k personal accident cover.
They have assured me they will issue a green card FOC, once I get back to them and stipulate exact dates of any visit to/from Maroc. Family health issues are currently impeding any forward planning.
They also said that in view of wrong Brexit outcomes they will issue a green card for the whole of the EU as well.

No good unless you have an address in Spain and your m/h is registered in Spain.
Ironically, the company who underwrite Saga's insurance (Acromas) are based in Gibraltar.

Sorry to hear that Martin, give Sue our best wishes for a speedy recovery. What the hell was she doing to crack two ribs?

If there are a few funsters of sound mind  going to Maroc depending on insurance we could give it a go when are folk planning on going..Bill and Lynne

Middle to end of January sometime after the 15th for us I’m hoping it will be a bit warmer at night?

But then as you know Bill, I’m not really of sound mind:unsure:

We are unable to commit to a definitive date as yet, but also hoping for mid Jan, subject to the green card being issued. We will be crossing via tunnel due to our pooch.

I cannot understand why people are paying such high loadings to go to Maroc.

Morocco Green Card cost £25 for 2 months ( could have had longer) with Saga, my whole premium for a 2010 N&B Arto 10000 pa is £300.

We get our travel insurance included with nationwide flex account ( no charges one) To increase it to worlwide 90 days this year was £90 for both of us including Blood pressure but tbf neither of us is 70.

Ken, I know you are a seasoned traveller and have been to Morocco before. However, I would offer some suggestions to aid you on your journey down and save you a bit of dosh too. You have seen my N10 route suggestions in the resources section that will save you on toll fares and uses mainly toll free motorways/duel carriageways and is suitable for large motorhomes too. There is also on this route an aire with free electricity (CC53385) (If the toilets are locked the black waste dump is accessed by the round grey plastic cap on the ground next to one of the power point stations near toilet block). Also, try and judge your fuel so you arrive at Irun near empty and push on a few K's to here for a big fuel saving compared to France and even good by Spain's standards. https://www.fuelflash.eu/en/alcampo...rcial-txingudi-zona-araso_b_-ventas-80-33301/

Driving down through Spain consider this stop over in Palencia (CC62523) everything is free and the fuel at the station across the road is cheap too. there are 2 other aires in the town both in C.C.

Monestero (CC40763) all free again including electricity and finally our last stop before Algecerias which included a good day in Jerez is CC52507. This one is €15.00 for 24 hrs with all facilities and is ok if you want to get out and visit the town. Enjoy Morocco, we will be following you on here so keep the posts coming. You will find it quite different from your last visit and a big improvement on the coast roads south of Agadir. Your favourite walled campsite is still going strong and well attended when we passed it in January of this year.
