Great day at van valley, scorching hot and a good turnout for the Boules warm up tournament, also nice to see TimandAli, turn up. and good luck to Jon & Sue @jongood safe travels.
Thanks Marc, it was lovely winning the Boules Competition - where did you come again............
So @billym we are just behind you both again. We are in Zagora at Oasis Palmerie which we thought was the one you liked but realise it was Palmeraie D'Amezrou which is to the right after crossing the bridge but ours is a few hundred metres to the left.
Have you now decided to visit Merzouga.......we will be there after an overnight stop at either Azurite or the Kasbah Meteorites hotel which is closer to half way. We have recommendations for Auberge La Chance and Oasis de Dunes, so perhaps meet up if you are still there.....................I reckon many of the excursions are cheaper if there are a few of you.
Then back up North........................we've decided to try to cross to Spain before "you know what"
Lol Mena has just whispered in my ear, can you show me Darrens Pass again. Something I'm now looking forward too and only a few Funsters will know about. Needless to say it has brought back some wonderful memories. Tomorrow we might go and seek put one of Ralf's relations and bring him back for a meal. Good beer o'clock today with some great Funsters.
It looks like we have a few boules players in our midst. I can see a Tourney in the making, new blood got fed up of beating Daz last year.
Had a few visitors this evening. Stunning day.

The one on the left with the trailer looks like its got its own stripey garden fence.
Is it free there or do you have to pay for the privilege?
This is terrible news. Seasoned visitors know that the Morrocans are very innovative and good at short term get you out of trouble repairs but IMO should not be let anywhere near a motorhome unless it's a dire emergency. They simply bodge too mutch, too often. I recall Colin @Armytwowheels telling me he saw an pledged mechanic make an electrical connection by simply twisting bare wires together and that was job home as far as he was concerned. The story above, although hard to believe just reinforces my view that these people are not to be trusted. In saying all that, I'm booked into the Fiat Dealership/ service centre in Agadir on 2 weeks time for a service. Already been given a written quote of just over 2000 Dirham, all genuine Fiat parts and Fiat trained mechanics.THIS IS AN ALERT, just met an English man outside essaouira, he had some mechanical work done in ZAGORA by a garage called CHEZ ALI NASSIR, the garage is on the main street, he has a side kick called ABDULLAH, who comes around the camp site, they've messed up his timing belt, shock absorbers and duel mass fly wheel and clutch, for the princely some of 30,000 euro's. .. yes euros, paddy not an idiot by any means but he was totally taken in by their slick operation.
We haven't been to ZAGORA so you seasoned Maroc travellers will know the place in sure
No, this is a direct quote from the man himself, he knew it wasn't right but they said it was ,the rear shock has only just gone again in the last 2 days, they told him they were genuine parts ,he even took photos of them and the men in question, they asked for 50000 euros to start with, unfortunately he didn't get a price up front, and they had his vehicle to bits before he could stop them, I'm only reporting this on here so it doesn't happen to anyone else, what with the language barrier and everything you need to he on your guard, he fully accepts he was suckered in, but he is well and truly guttedLooking at this story again ot simply does not add up. Assuming all the work was sucessfully corrected completed as he got to Essaouira. Sounds like a cam belt change gone wrong. I can't believe the figure of 30,000 Euros was quoted. Perhaps a bit of Chineese Whispers involved.

No sorry 3000 euros , getting my dirhams and euros mixed up again30,000€ Mmmm ? not shooting the messenger but if that’s true then Paddy certainly living up to his reputation
Why would you have so many jobs undertaken by a back street garage in the middle of the desert ?
Don’t stack with me sorry,
Your not wrong, I think drink may have been involvedEven 3000 € in my opinion sounds excessive, especially when they just knocked 2k off the price at a drop of an hat.,
Something tells me Paddy is not the best negotiator on the block, sounds abit like our prime minister![]()
15mad so £1.20 per night to be fair the facilities are a little primitive![]()

Primitive? Primitive? You've been spoiled staying on too many campsites young man! The water is delivered direct to your filler cap, drainage into the gulley you parked over which are everywhere and the new cassette emptying facilities are a sight to behold - a proper toilet (albeit the "Turkish" type). Proper waste bins almost at your door emptied daily. Free daily delivery of bread, cous-cous, pizza, tagines, windscreen wipers. You're not restricted to parking within lines and/or up to a marker post, although you maybe have to fight off a few Frenchmen who insist on cozying up to you, but you get that everywhere.....!
Primitive!!!!
There you go! You just confirmed they will take your money and even have the shirt of your back. Wise up man !Ive got to say, our experience of a Moroccan mechanic was brilliant. Cutting a long story short - the Engine water pump failed taking the fanbelt out. We got onto a filling station forecourt, got a mechanic sorted and it was replaced and we were on our way within 24 hours for less than 200 euros plus a shirt. And its still on there now 20,000+ miles later and 3 years on. I would challenge people to beat that in UK.
Jon
We've been hit twice , once for speeding, no ticket issued, 200 dhrs in pocket, once for failing to stop at a stop sign, no ticket issued, 200 dhrs in pocket , still could have been worse
We've just been hit this morning by a keen eyed policeman as we pulled into the Afriqe service station in Essaouira in through a filter lane and he waved us down.
Said we didn't stop at the Stop sign (we had slowed almost to a halt but no vehicles in view so continued).... . that simple manoeuvre cost us 40 dhns!!!!!!!
Are you still here River Gypsys?
No , We're at safi, moving up to oulidia tomorrow, slowly and adhering to all the stop signs, only 40 dhrs, he must have liked youWe've just been hit this morning by a keen eyed policeman as we pulled into the Afriqe service station in Essaouira in through a filter lane and he waved us down.

No, not a funster, he's an English man who lives in America, he's been travelling since last May and been in morocco since January, he might not be genuine but he has shown us pictures of the garage and the mechanics, it's a bit of an elaborate lie, but you never knowIs he a Funster? Is it possible this is someone who wants to cause fear and put people off Morocco. It would not be the first time this has happened on this forum, in fact it happens every year. It just does not add up in my book.
