Hiya just wondered if anyone has any experience or advice on preferably folding lightweight mobility scooters any views on the subject I would like to hear . My wife is mobile but cannot walk a great distance 2 or 3 hundred yards and we have to stop. She does have a blue badge but as you know most car parks have height barriers or the bays are not big enough to be able to take the vehicle with us, thanks

My wife is about the same but we bought a electric wheel chair instead.

1/ It can also pull me along too :Eeek: ( I have modified so that I can also have the controls on the backrest)
2/ its easier to take into shops and pubs :drinks: (I'm not happy about leaving it outside unattended)
3/ it has bigger wheels for rough car parks ( we like visiting NT places) :hugs:
4/ It fold up easily without dismantling it :hi5:

Blue badge spaces are brilliant with a motorhome and there is always enough toom to pull it out the garage.

Thanks for that hadn’t considered a motorised chair , what sort of distance will it cover and how long to charge up ?

I am suffering with Arthritis and a disc problem.
Would benefit from one as I cant walk more than a few metres without crutches.
I just want one that looks like a kids scooter with a seat.
I dont mind looking lazy, just cant cope with looking disabled!

Watching with interest.
I've come to the conclusion I could use a scooter due to arthritis in both hips.
Only difference is I don't want a meccano kit Foldy, I want a proper scooter.
Not sure how practical a none folding scooter would be unless you are built like Geoff Capes !

We have never had it even near flat even after an hour or two of use. It has two long Lithium batteries down inside the the frame tubes.
It doesn't seem to take long to charge maybe a couple of hours. I've fitted a charging socket in MoHo garage so I have never checked.
It simply folds flat, looks lost in there and it will fit into an average car boot.

Sorry, didn't make it clear.
Only needed locally for dog walks etc.
If it was ever needed elsewhere (very doubtful) it would go on the trailer.
Oh, yes I am built like Geoff Capes.
Unfortunately his is muscle ...mine isn't. ::bigsmile:

We bought this one but second hand on eBay. Collect only in the Lake District but that's no hard ship with a MoHo

A friend of my wife has offered her a loan of her late husbands scooter, it comes apart in pieces to allow it to easily fit in any car boot, and doesn't weigh much, compared with some.
Its only downfall for us is that the tyres are solid, and it only has a ground clearance of 2.5". It would sink in the grass on rallies, and is mostly designed for flat running on pavements or inside shops/buildings, not so much use on trail paths with puddles etc.
It needs new batteries which are reasonably cheap as a pair of 12V replacements are about £60/70.
We are still considering options, so this thread could be very useful.(y)
Its amazing how much some disability scooters can cost, especially the larger wheel varieties.

Here is a link to one we have been offered.

Thanks Geoff thought I would have to order a truss at the same time though!

Yes I have one it’s a Atto sport. Quite expensive but if you search
ATTO disability scooter on YouTube your see just how good they are.

they Have a fair ground clearance compared to a lot of others. Easy to use. Charge. Fold. Carry. And Store.
I use mine a lot both in a caravan when we had one and the car. And soon to be the Moho.

they make the atto sport max for larger people.

I have an e-foldi. Lightweight. Fits easily into back of pvc. Tend to remove battery when lifting it in because just makes it a bit lighter. Easy to fold and unfold. No taking bits apart. Designed for those who need some help with their mobility. Designed for hard surfaces, but I’ve used it on short grass provided it is dry. Obviously can’t use on gravel, so where hardstandings are gravel have to shell it off the gravel before getting on.

It’s the only one that suited me. And yes I did think about the price in fact for a week or so.
but made the right decision for me anyway. I like the way it packs away like a suite case.
some folding scooters state do not store upright. i can’t say why …
use mine for dog walking as well but I would have no other at the moment unless things get worse health wise that is.

Buy off eBay. Dealers charge the earth. Or 'Rip Off Britain'! Stealaway that is a great looking chair, what sort of real world range are you getting?

The beauty of a powered wheelchair is that you can usually take them inside buildings and public transport.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Thanks again yes I suppose you only get what you pay for, sometimes it’s false economy buy cheap and you get cheap

We've been looking at used on Facebook
There are loads around the £300 mark.
Even If it needed a new battery/ies it's still far cheaper than new.
Good idea, yes batteries can be expensive but like you said still worth considering

The only scooter I have bought new pappajohn is my Tramper TWS. All other scooters, big and small have been off ebay and yes, I have had to buy new batteries, but as pappajohn says, it is still much cheaper than new.

We will have one for sale but is in Birmingham at the moment so collect from there or Guisborough.

It’s Invacare Leo in red,

£400

We have a Pride Ranger. Not folding that's for sure. If we take it with MH it goes in the trailer, it also goes straight into our Citroen Berlingo. Range around 25 miles.

I actually saw this one in action at the IOM sprint. Honda 600cc four cylinder engine.

Or if you want one with a roof? Postman Pat replica. Standstill to 101 mph inside a 1/4 of mile
