Maxxfan keeps cutting out. (2 Viewers)

We are currently in France and the temperature is extremely high. We have been running the Maxxfan for long periods and after a while it stops responding and cuts out. Anybody got any suggestions? Many thanks.

Simpler suggestion:
Hi, we had the same on our Maxxfan , green light , intermittent operation in the middle of the night.... I found that the circuit board was in the airflow and it was getting coated by moist air .
I sprayed it with circuit board cleaner and it immediately behaved.
It has been fine for almost three years since.
We wouldn't be without our MaxxFan Deluxe but we have added a clever NiteAir roof vent cover for when we have to sleep under street lighting so that we get full airflow but full blackout.

Not related to the problem but has anyone ever noticed the gunge that builds up on it. While cleaning the van I've always overlooked it till the other week when it caught my eye. I was shocked to see it

Yup! Ours is close enough to the hob to work as an extractor fan. Gets very gungy!

Could one of you clever clogs post more info on stabilising the voltage please?

We’re suffering the cut-out problem too. I fitted the fan myself, tapped off the lighting circuit. Had no problems with it until this summer - after I’d upgraded the solar and B2B charging (Lithium LB).

I REALLY do not want to have to remove the fan from the roof to do this, but can access the wiring where I tapped into the lighting circuit easily enough.

• voltage range: 8-40
• efficiency: 90,8% (12V input)

OUTPUT side:

• voltage: 12 (I read constant 12,2V with my multimeter being 14V in the input)
• maximum rated current: 10A (Maxxfan uses 3A at 100% speed).
• voltage and load regulation: +-1%
• standby current: 54mA (at 12V input)

Not at all sure about the make of our Hymer fiited fan.

But it cuts out if you run in on full power.

The solution is not to run it at full speed. It then runs forever.

Lenny HB - how did your experiments with an in-line diode work? And did you knock up a board to hold it, or are there automotive plug’n’play versions?

The stabilizer is not that big, as you can see in the picture, you can fit it anywhere and the wiring is quite simple.
You just need to find the right place. I installed it under the seat bench.

I fitted the 10A unit, to be in the safer side, but I could have fitted the 3A unit, which is slightly smaller an enough for the Maxxfan:

Think i'll fit one in the toilet for Bod next year, she loves it in there with the double mirrors but it's not cool enough in Spain for her. She has to go in her cage when we're out which is too cozy and she's started laying eggs

Got a small computer fan in there at the minute but it's not enough.

Not installed it hoping to do it on Wednesday weather permitting.
From the email I received from Maxxfan my board should be OK, if I do fit a diode I'll just solder it inline and sleeve in heat shrink sleeving.
