Marmite shortage

Personally I can’t stand the stuff. It reminds me of the yeast tablets and multivitamins we we were given as kids.

Ooo, does anyone remember that yeasty vitaminy honey goo in wartime rationed Britain? Used to love it, we'd all queue up for a daily spoonful of it.

You can still get it in health food shops.

Unfortunately I can no longer eat Marmite or twiglets.

Definitely an allergic reaction - I get the same from eating celery. It was years before I found out that everyone else didn’t get a numb tongue when eating it!

I'm not worried about the shortage, a jar lasts about 20 years in our house. I'm sure it's still at the back of the cupboard, with the lid firmly glued on with marmite.

I'm more interested as to why I cant get cans of flagelot beans any more. Used to get them in Sainsburys - none. Looked in Morrisons - none.

I really don't see the pleasure in swollen lips & a sore tongue.

Maybe it doesn’t affect the rest of your family members like it affects you. I’ve loved Marmite all my life and never had the effects you describe.
But each to their own. I can’t stand asparagus, much to the incredulity of my wife and other ‘foodies’.

Celery can give similar allergic reactions and guess what Marmite are now putting in their mix? Other brands of yeast extract continue to manage without celery and taste more like Marmite used to taste like before they started adding extra ingredients.
