Can we ask a silly question?!! will there be anything other than beer at this festival? I don't drink beer & Alb can't drink beer or lager due to having coeliacs disease . We do make up for it with cider, wine & gin

Unfortunately jobs at home are taking precedence! :(

We’re definitely heading away that weekend as it’s my last before the new hip, Lorraine is trying to get the Friday off or at least half day. Once she knows that I’ll let you know.

Please don’t keep a space for us if someone else wants it.

There is plenty of space. I’ll let you know the payment details if you confirm

Here are a few more details.
It is here
Old Malton Rd, Malton, YO17 7EY
See map on the first post in this thread

Paul @Badknee and I plan to arrive at 3pm on Thursday 16th May. One of us will collect the keys. If you arrive before us just park in the car park ( far side away from the way in) bear in mind we need to fit about 15 vans in and they should be 6m apart. We reserve the right to ask you to move:D when we get there.
We have all contributed £10 to hire the function room. This costs £150 for the weekend so if we get more vans we may be able to give some back. I would like to collect cash from you to pay the Steward £8 per night per van, ideally when you arrive, but anytime over the weekend is ok.
We plan to leave on Monday morning

Details of the Beer Festival are here
https://www.beertownmalton.com/tickets
I’m just going to get a day ticket for £2 or £6 then buy beer as I want. All inclusive tickets are £45/day and that is just too much beer for me!

As we have the function room in the Rugby Club, we plan to use that in the afternoons for craft activities. Nothing formal, but Alice is going to bring some sewing machines and there will no doubt be various sewing, crocheting, knitting etc going on. There is plenty of space so if anyone would like to share their craft activities or just sit and make a Papier-mâché beer glass or stuff a bunny, there will be space.

Carolyn is going to bring some homemade jam to sell for charity. Other items like this will be welcome.

In the evenings, in the same location, we would like to invite you to bring an unusual or your favourite beers and-or gin/whisky/rum to share/compare/taste. If you like, disguise the bottle and make us guess what it is

We will have bingo cards and a quiz available but only plan to do that if there is serious demand

The Beer Festival itself is in the Milton Rooms, and that is a 15min walk (sober) from the rugby club

Thanks Chris, sounds like a plan (y)

Sounds like a great plan @Mr Chrysalis

We thought we might run a small gin tasting session as part of the weekend to try each other’s stocks (@Anthea M has some purple gin you know o_O) ?

It also might be nice to supplement the beer festival experience by doing a bit of informal ale sharing back at our meet ?

I will be bringing some crafty stuff and have loads of supplies for card making.

It is only a week until Malton :roflmto:

I’ve visited the Rugby Club today. I’ve arranged for us to park up on the car park.
The room we are getting for £150 for the time we are there is below ( we are not having the bar but can take our own drinks). There are toilets, Elsan and fresh water

I’ve noticed that Beer Festival tickets are now on sale. I’ll get more details and post them here
Post 66 on this thread has photos of the rooms we have and the car park where we will pitch

I’m excited !( and I don’t even drink beer!)

IT seems such a long time since we saw each other :LOL:

Boring question, but can I fill up with water there? And can you save me a space next to @Howard H as he’s bringing my beer:whistle::whistle:

Hip op! Brill, you will be much better off. Had mine done last October, recently knocked down my brick barbecue, dug out the flower beds and yesterday used a big hammer drill to dig out a trench in the front drive for a storm drain. All this after 6 months and looking forward to the walk into Malton for some anaesthetic!!

See you all there.

Just as a contrast to the Gin Tasting - I shall be bringing three rums from around the world for anyone who wants to sample/glug + an assortment of mixers...

If there's a socket, there should be ice too.

A gin distillery? Don't think any of the wimmins drink gin do they

@Mr Chrysalis Lorraine has managed to get the Friday off so we're up for this if space is still available.
