LPG gas stations – are they closing down. Really?

The thing is in about 15 years there will be a thread on here saying''Are diesel filling pumps closing'' and you will get posts where someone says ''my nearest one is now 7 miles away''

My nearest anything is 4 miles away.

Why would they want to lose the profit they make on supplying Calor ? :xThumb::xrofl:
For a few poxy pence on lpg for a few tight arse owners.
Maybe it wouldn't happen but if the garages phase LPG out there would be a gap in the market to supply tight arses... Look at the ASDA model, small profit with high turnover. Wetherspoons? Lidl? :coolest:

Why don't motorhome or caravan dealers install a pump?
Some do here. Also my local petrol station , which is the first once you have left the mway on the way to Águilas, hvae just installed lpg & I think due to the sheer amount of mhomes on there way stopping for diesel & asking for lpg ?

We've actually gone form an absolute scarcity of lpg 16 years ago. Murcia city was nearest with a scrapyard near Granada the next known one, to an abundance of them around here now.

I don't mean now, it would be a future scenario (as I said earlier) if garages stopped selling it, AND if the dealerships were in a good location where many people would easily call in. It would certainly be worth looking at :)

Last week I checked for LPG filling stations near me in Cheshire on two different websites. They both suggested Shell stations at Wilmslow and Tytherington, but neither had ever supplied LPG. I ended up driving 25 miles to a Spar filling station on the Ashbourne Road in Leek, Staffordshire (A523) which had been recommended by a lady and the Spar owner was so pleasant and helpful that I also filled up with Esso diesel and promised to be a regular customer. As a bonus, the round trip fully charged my leisure batteries, and on the way home I stopped at the canal service block at Bosley top lock where I refilled my water tank, emptied the toilet and disposed of rubbish, so a very worthwhile journey.

I filled one of my Calor 6kg cylinders in the shed ( Fiat Doblo ) on way home today:xThumb:

We opened an account with Countrywide LPG
They have been taken over by flogas . You get a key to access stations book of sites and monies are deducted by direct debit . Key is £12.00

@Stumpie. I too have an account and coded key.
Did Flogas continue with the key system at the Countrywide sites they took over, as I've not had any communication from either, to say otherwise. Flogas depots over my way don't use the same key system.

Before heading for the tunnel, I filled up at my local Flogas depot @ £0.54ppl, and with the current exchange rate, that's much cheaper than I've seen it in France or Spain on this trip, (so far).

Cheers,

Jock. :)

There is an LPG dealer in Whaley Bridge i think
Check on the Safefill website

I’ve just had lpg tanks installed and Just returned from a 5 week trip through Germany, Luxembourg and France. Had absolutely no problem finding LPG. We topped up several times and we’ve concluded that this was one of the best additions we’ve made to that MoHo.
