LPG gas stations – are they closing down. Really?

I think a lot of users dont like filling at the pump especially the ladies what with the gas escaping and the need to wear gloves if you do it correctly. We have a lot of taxis running on LPG close to me. john
Gloves - yes maybe, but you just need to be quick of hand when you release the fill lock, move it away quickly, wait 5 seconds then unbayonet the filler.
Filllpg website - I can recommend it highly.

Just filled my gassit bottles for the first time, read instructions on pump and filled my 2 bottles. I was expecting it to just stop filling at 80% but instead filling slowed considerably like it was trickling gas in slowly, I let it do that for a few seconds and stopped filling by letting go of the black button. Is what happed correct gas goes in at a fair rate then at a much slower rate then stops. Not knowing I may have let go of the black button to soon.

Wife hated it when I disconnected the hose and it blew back eww it smells,it smells horrible she says, did wiff a bit nothing like the fuss she was making lol

That's what happens when I fill up, I just stop when it slows right down :xThumb:

Brilliant glad I did it right, always hard doing things for the first time specially as I get older. Thanks Richard and Anne

Such a pity LPG never really caught on, its cheap, very clean (think about forktrucks running in factories) and the latest conversion kits for petrol cars are so reliable. I had cars converted back in the seventies when the conversion kits were a joke. It's only because the UK chose what is possibly the heaviest, most clumsy, and awkward to use filler mechanism that also traps more liquid than necessary. We could have used the French one but we're British so we didn't :xgrin:.

SWMBO seems very sensitive to the smell of lpg. I always make sure all doors and windows are closed before filling.

Particularly if the filler is low down on the skirt. I have only my left arm and hand usable so I fitted mine at nearly waist height but even then it's a struggle to connect the pump gun and operate the trigger and lock but practice is making (almost) perfect.
BTW - when I change my Gaslow system to another m/h I'll just fit a plastic vent over the hole that will be left. It won't look out of place with all the other equipment vents each side.

Of all the systems I think the French one is the easiest and most fool proof.

I dont think i have ever filled up near to me. Always fill up on the way back from europe. Same with adblue and diesel
Me too. That's the beauty of refillables; you can top up a part full cylinder when out and about or whenever convenient without having to hand back an exchange cylinder with some gas remaining in it. Cushty! Whether here or 'over there'.

Just remember that it is just like a water tank ballcock.as it approaches full & the ball cock starts to close the valve ,so it slows down. Just keep it pressed until it stops filling.

What I always do to prevent the weight of gun/hose hanging on the valve& adaptor is drag out the hose & trap with my foot on the ground then connect gun up & press button keeping foot on hose until full & disconnected.

I shouldn't worry too much, there will always be outlets, the beauty of an underfloor tank or refillables is that you can put a quid in or fill it completely every time you pass one on your travels, someone was on the other day on here saying that it is 4 miles to the nearest one, I dropped my cup of tea as I was reading it, good lord, 4 miles:D2.

You will always find somewhere to fill up as you use the van.

4 miles to fill up and you nearly dropped your tea lol :) well think you would have choked me on you tea if you knew how far I had to run once when in Sweden !!!! Had to run 180 miles into Norway to fill up with lpg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Euro filler used in Spain and newer outlets in Portugal is good as well.
I haven't seen one but all the info I have suggests you're correct. It wasn't around when the UK decided to standardise though - the French one was.

The thing is the spanish 'euro' connecter is exactly the same as the connection to a spanish bottle. It was also called the 'euro' connecter for the simple reason that it was meant to be the standard lpg connection for the EU . Just that no one else has changed to it:censored: as usual.:xlaugh:

As long as it's not the EU connector :ROFLMAO:
Seriously though I can use all of them no problemo

Plenty places stop being paranoid
Scuse me? I am not being paranoid it was an honest question following on from someone's posting saying that they were disappearing. It would have had a strong bearing on my decision to have a tank fitted. Some people!

:eek::eek::eek:
Quite happy with 10 mile run to my nearest.
Eairler in the year when there was a shortage I had to do about a 40 mile detour.

Newer pumps in Portugal use it. :D

Used to have 3 outlets near us selling LPG 2 years ago we now have 4, stretch the radius to 30 miles and we have 6.

I'm often in Chi/Pompey, but on balance the bulk of our travelling is in that EU thing, and that seems to be well served. Besides, I've got a portable cooker. It's travelled tens of thousands of miles, but only been used once. The sausages rolled off the griddle onto the sand. Good roughage.

I didn't think that we had any LPG fill points in our area, that is, until we fitted the Gaslow system the other day and I had to hunt for them.

It seems that we have four on the doorstep and all within a 3-7 mile distance from our house.

Good news:xThumb:

Never found a problem after 9 years of refillable’s, only ever fill up as I pass a filling station never had to make a special trip out of the way to look for one.
Only refused once that was at calor depot in Norwich.
The Calor depot at Ayr refused us. Said it was company policy. As refillables are taking away their business, I suppose it's understandable.

Why don't motorhome or caravan dealers install a pump?

Why would they want to lose the profit they make on supplying Calor ? :xThumb::xrofl:
For a few poxy pence on lpg for a few tight arse owners.
And no outlay for a tank and a pump which would be subject to weight and measures testing etc.
