Lenny's Wandering around France again.

Loved that aire when it was down on canalside by the bridge

I used to like catillon sur Sambre , the aire used to have free electric and be right on the side of the canal bank ?

There is a small plaque to Wilfred Owen further along the canal bank there.
They moved it a few years ago.

Just parking for fishermen now, we had a look last time we were here.

Yes I know , last time we were there we had to use the new one which at the time was just rough gravel and no services although they said they were going to resurface .
not sure we would use it again. moved on to Landrecies aire by a canal

Services still not working all taped up was like that last year.
It just happened to be on route if I'd realised it was this one before we stopped I would have given it a miss.

I wish the UK would utilise parking for motorhomes more, we’ve parked overnight in Belgium a few times at the leisure centre in Gistel en route.
Is it mostly through park4night that you find these locations or is it from somewhere else?….just enquiring for future trips.

Thanks

Mostly use Camper Contact, only use P4N as a last resort I find it useless if you have anything larger than a small camper van, coopdenates often wrong and often info not up to date.
Camper Contact rarely let's us down.

Variety of sources the first ones we found and indeed the Gistel one were in the German Bordatlas book that we always used to carry.

Prefer Search for Sites easy to use usually better stopping places negative not as many options as Campercontact.
Park4night stopping places not reliable and often not suitable for MH over 6m

Now in Belgium it always surprises us what we find in Belgium.
At Scherpenheuvel-Zichem, leisure centre has parking for Motorhomes and only 2 min walk to centre of town.

Did you enjoy the ”delights” of Charleroi en route to where you stayed the night in Belgium?
Both times we’ve driven to Rotterdam, we’ve had our spirits dampened (often literally) by the dour, grimy, unhappy-looking Northern French and Flemish towns.

What page is that on ...I can't see post numbers on a mobile lol
See them on my mobile try turning phone to portrait
Here is a link.

Where does the gas supply come from screw on canister?
The ones used in the cheap single burner stoves they just push on. £5 for 4 in B&M, or Home Bargains (Camping Gas ones are £5 each) .
