Lenny HB I am loving all that you post of your wanderings in France and elsewhere in the past. As for the descriptions and photographs that you post, you should be on the payroll of the French Tourist organisations. All of the books and guides that I have seen cannot match what you post!

Keep up the good work.

I agree, can you do Northern Italy please Lenny as we plan to go there next June and a bit of research would be handy :ROFLMAO:

You missed that, we did it 25 years ago as tuggers.

Lenny

Please, is the photo with lat/long date/time etc. from a normal camera or from a phone camera?

Whichever, how do you get it there, as we would love to have that facility?
Phone, Android app "Open Camera".

I take it you mean 'annual ' fete? You might want to correct your post? 😆😆😆

Didn't tell you about the Thursday morning drama, we had a fire in the van.

I ask Mi to put some bread in the oven to crisp up. I was getting out of the shower I smelt a funny burning smell I shouts to Mi, she opened the oven door and shouts the oven is on fire.
She turned the gas off and its still burning, I come into the kitchen area have a look see the problem get and oven mitt pull the shelf out so I can get at the problem.
Can't find anywhere to put the shelf down, she says put it on the door mat, no it's hot you silly woman.

Now to give you the full picture I'm standing there stark naked will a boiling hot oven shelf in my hand. Not a site you see every day. :giggle:

I removed the offending item with a pair of tongs and blew the rest of the flame out.

What the problem was, we had one of those silicon edge things on the front of the shelf so you don't burn your hands/arms on the shelf. A couple of days before it had partly come off they are a bit of a pain to get on so I had pulled it all the way off and left it in the oven. Driving it had rolled onto the burner and Mi not being the tallest of people can't see in the oven so didn't notice it.

The complete inside of the oven was coated in a grey powder including the bread for my brekies. All is well it all wiped clean and vacummed the burner all working OK.

That happened to us back in April - didn’t know silicone could burn like that.! Not as easy to clear up as you though as John discharged the powder extinguisher into the oven !
We have moved to the riverside at Argantat after a nice drive from Rocamadour. Stopped for a boulangerie at Bretanoux and found a wonderful medieval square tucked away behind the rather unassuming French main street.

Now at Souillac, we have lost another one Charlie chaser it was a nice large free municiple Aire it is now a much smaller scruffy Camping Car Park Aire.
Really don't understand why people keep going on about how good Camping Car Park Aires are, certianly not our experance. This one was much tidier when Council run, now scruffy with weeds growing through the gravel.

CCP don't own any aires, they are owned and maintained by the municipality. CCP are a management company who install barriers and upgraded facilities, and take entrance fees at aires and municipal campsites where the municipality can no longer afford to run them alone, passing most of the fees on to the municipality.

It takes time for aires and campsites which have fallen into disrepair to be restored to respectability, particularly given the difficulties of the last few years. The alternative to CCP would be that the aire or municipal campsite would no longer exist. Is that your preference?
