You’ve been warned ?? ( taken from a local group in Portugal)

GNR/ICNF JOINT OPERATION AGAINST WILD CAMPING

On 18th September the GNR Coastal Control Unit, through the Aljezur Coastal Control Sub-Detachment, issued 92 caravan / wild camping offence notices near the towns of Sines, Milfontes and Aljezur.

In a joint operation with the Institute for Conservation of Nature and Forests, the GNR identified and assessed 92 motorists for staying overnight outside the legally authorised places in the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park area.

The notices can result in a fine of up to 4 thousand euros.

Such camping, in addition to the risk to public health resulting from the debris that is left on site, as well as a fire risk through use of BBQs outside authorised areas, is a nuisance to other holiday makers who have difficulty accessing both the beaches and car parks in the waterfront areas. It also impacts on the local economy by taking away revenue from authorised campsites / caravans parks intended for this purpose.

The GNR will continue to monitor the situation to ensure caravaners and campers adopt more responsible and environmentally friendly behaviour.
It's nice how they waited till I left ? never had a bit of bother

The French are unbelievably thick when it comes to card entry Aires. Coming back from the croissant run a French van trying to get in, didn't have a clue, had a Camping Carpark card in his hand!!!!. Instructions are very clear in French & English, all you do is select how many days and put your credit card in.

Have decided to take Popeye advice and to ditch all plans and to just live for today

Have burned all my plans and my shoes too

Just one pair of Jesus sandals remain (and a nice bottle of single malt )
I'm going to do the same. Weather for the next week or so looks poor in France, especially the north where we are now. Going to let the SANEF tag do the work and we'll scoot south, starting on Sunday, the day the rain is supposed to arrive. Head for Dijon first then check the forecast again. :)

They do seem to be getting better at it, We have stayed in 3 to 4 Camping-car park Aires in the last 2 weeks and where surprised how many French are using them now ,a couple of years ago they would pull up spend 15mins looking at the machine then drive off or even drive off as soon as they see you have to pay. We are at very quiet site near Carcans in The Gironde its 30c again today just come back from a 40 mile bike ride. The bike tracks down here are better than some of the roads back home.

And then I got dragged up another flipping great hill to the Chateau. Built in the 12th century and has been owned privately since the 1960's and the last 50 years it has been restored to it's original condition.
Richard the 1st conquered it and lived here, I'm not going to go into the history as most Funsters if the dementia hasn't set in, they are bright enough to look it up themselves.

That's one hell of a chateau. Must have cost a fortune to restore back to the original but looks like a superb job was done.

Another one to go on the list. :) And it's only an hour away from our place in France. You never stop finding new places to see. Even after all this time. Thanks yet again.
