3420 miles later the end of another trip, now back in the cold wet UK, yuck.
The important info for PhilandMena , FIDGET , 45 days away, 44 nights camping total camping cost €32.50 or €0.739 per night, one of our better efforts. :D

Wow, that’s an impressive spend rate.

Hi Lenny, what do you use to keep track of your route?

We did 60 days away in France/Portugal/Spain last winter with a grand total of €0,00 camping costs ... beat that if you can. :giggle:

We clearly have much to learn. ?

Do you have a log of your route/overnight stays? We are planning to head there in early December for a similar duration.

Nice one Lenny, a true FLT. Glad your trip was a success and welcome home. We're doing Greece next year and I look forward to posting pictures of some great Wilding spots. Will use the occasional camp site to access services. All the best mate, a good trip.

Nar, it could have been better. Trouble was I listened to PhilandMena and peterc10 and paid for 2 nights at €4 a night at Foz. When we went for a cycle ride found 3 or 4 wilding spots just down the road. Another €5.50 wasted as we had to go to a camper stop with a washing bay after getting the van caked in salt after a night on the cliff tops with a gale blowing.:rofl::rofl:

I didn't do a 'log' even though I have in the past as we rarely refer to them! :giggle: I did, however, mark every place we stopped on road atlases with the dates so can see which route we took, where we stayed and for how long.

We went down from Eurotunnel to Irun (past Bordeaux etc) and along the North & Eastern Spanish coasts which were lovely, then along Portugal's upper coast but after a while regretted it as it has tortuous slow roads which took an age to travel as the speed limit was 50kph for nearly all of it plus they weren't great either. We enjoyed some of the middle and lower parts of the coast though as it is very pretty eventually ending up at the Algarve and along the bottom into Spain, keeping mainly to the coastal areas but avoiding the big towns etc as we're not a fan of them. We then tootled slowly along the South and East coast stopping as/when we felt like it.

Ok we did 61 days in France/Portugal/Spain and Germany and made £1 as I shined someones shoes
That's getting a bit desperate ... having to shine shoes to make some money? ?

Fortunately we haven't had to 'stoop' that low but hubby has suggested a few times that I could cut chaps' hair - I'm not a hairdresser but I've been cutting hubby's for years now (as well as my own, hubby does the back for me) so could do a short back & sides quite easily using scissors I hasten to add so doing it the 'proper' way ... oh, he still has 2 ears ... just! :giggle:

You could have popped down to Portugal, I had to pay €10 for a hair cut. Interesting experience all done with sign language. :D

Did you end up with a Mohican Lenny? Or don't you have enough hair for that? ?

I hope you are going to follow in my footsteps and walk up mount Olympus, it's a great walk.
Just looked at a U Tube video of young guys walking to the top! Now going for a lie down !

We made it to the second highest peak but should have taken 3 days rather than 2 to do it. It's worth the effort.

Not related to Jeremy Corbyn are you by any chance? There's a distinct resemblance there ... ?

Many thanks for this thread it's been very helpful. The Atlantic coast of Portugal looks much more interesting than I expected. I can see us visiting soon. :)
