Lenny's Modding the new Gin Palace

There you are Steve, I've done a drawing especially for you.
I did find with my inverter if fires up OK with it left switched on, I didn't really need the timer but better to play safe.

Thanks Lenny... That's brilliant.... Much appreciated... :notworthy2::notworthy2:
You made your own timer, didn't you? I have to admit that is beyond my skills (wish I could though), so guess I can buy & use any suitable 12v one?
Thanks again...(y)(y)

Yes made my own timer.
You can buy timers on eBay for a few quid but need to establish with the supplier exactly how they function a lot of the listings are a bit confusing. All you need is a relay contact to close approx 10 sec after applying power to the circuit.

TV, sat controller, receiver & a USB socket installed.

All individually fused, one switch for all TV bits & one for USB, I was struggling to find a way of mounting switches & USB socket, then in the middle of the night I remembered I had some white perspex which would blend in a treat.

Finally finished off the reversing cameras. Reverse cam selected when reverse gear engaged Rear view & Service cam can be selected via a couple of switches.
Pics not very good I was getting a lot of reflections.

Bodged a couple of switches in for now, the matching ones are a Hella OEM supply only, so will have to fork out an arm & a leg and order some from Hymer.

Excellent, much appreciated. Just need to work out how to incorporate into my existing setup minus your skills(n)

Camera that is used to pinpoint your grey waste pipe directly over the drain;)
Very useful when the grey waste dump switch is on the dash console, don't need to move from your seat to dump the grey water.

Hi Lenny
What stops the camera getting covered in crud and road spray ?

Nothing but it will probably stay clean as it is a couple of feet in front of the rear wheel and nearly 4m back from the front wheel & facing the front of the rear wheel.

@Lenny HB Thank you for the link to the camera, now purchased and also discovered that my Pioneer headset has a function for a second camera; win win(y)

What else do you have planned or are you now pretty much there and just awaiting your V5?

I find it much easier if you use an external switch to select the extra cameras, it is a bit of a pain having to operate them via a touch screen.
Once we get the V5 plan was straight across the channel, on hold at the moment, I have some minor day surgery on the 20th already put it off once but hopefully on our way shortly after. Portugal or Spain or may just stay in France if the weather's good.

Just ignore me then you won't get so wound up.:ROFLMAO:

Only a few jobs left to do:

Sort out auto switching on the mains for the inverter.

Fit mains socket in garage.

Fit Alfa router & power for it and a 12v socket in garage.

Fit another USB & power socket in the lounge.

Fit fridge fans and controller

Make some lose fit carpets.

Make some fitted sheets.

That should do for now.

Did I mention the fridge, I'm still in shock I appear to have a Dometic 8505 that works.

Set to max it got down to minus 1 to minus 2 on both gas & mains, on 4 bars 2-3 deg, on 3 bars 3- 4.5 deg. Best the last one ever achieved was 5-6 deg and that was after changing the burner 10 was its best before that.

Not been brave enough to try the TecTower oven yet.:)

Are you fitting an interior fridge fan too?

With it getting down to below zero not much point.:D2

Just remembered a couple of other things:

Battery monitor.

Cheapo Tracker.

Won't get so low when it's 25 deg outside and you've loaded it with ambient temperature beer
The same model in the last van never got below 5 deg regardless of outside temps & fans running.

25 deg what you talking about, not a holiday unless it's above 30.:D2

Good post, well thought out mods (y)

Without taking anything away whatsoever, actually agreeing with you, most jobs are more time consuming than technically difficult.

Don't forget an additional RCD on the 220 AVC output from the inverter ;)

Thanks Eddie @eddievanbitz that's a nice compliment.
The time involved is quite frighting and you have to be so carefull these modern matchbox vans damage so easily.

I'm 50/50 on an RCD on the inverter as the output is isolated but it won't do any harm to fit one, so I probably will.
