Lenny's heading South yet again

Set off on another trip today don't where we are going no plans so could be France, Spain or Portugal.

Left home at 9:15 this morning and by 10:40 we were bobing about in a boat on the English channel.
Not only did the ferry leave 20 min early it arrived at Dieppe 35 min early.

As we docked at Dieppe several fishing boats came into the harbour quite close to the ferry and started letting of smoke flares. Lost track of what the French are protesting about they do it so many times.

They knew you were coming over to open your wallet and shower the local economy with euros's so it's a welcome party ;-).

For those who couldn't resist putting a price up for my takeaway, the Pizza was €19.50 & Pom frites €4.
It was a medium Pizza it was huge some in the fridge for lunch, a small one would have been more than enough.

Bon Voyage Lenny and Mia,
Have a great trip, looking forward to reading about your travels as always, we will be following you with our crossing on the 15th April, , leave some sunshine and wine for us. Happy birthday to Mia, long live the FLT brigade.

James.

Mrs Littlewheels has never had more than a sip of wine /alcohol but having discovered non alcoholic gin she loves it and pushes the boat out by taking it with non alcoholic slimline tonic😉

Talking of large gins :-

My then boss David Proudlove used to have the Late Queen Mother as a guest to his small Christmas drinks party in Albert Hall Mansions, just accompanied by her Private Secretary. She was his Honorary Air Commodore when he was Commander of 600 City of London Squadron RAuxAF'

She only had one G&T all evening, pouring of which I saw supervised by the Private Sec. :- large tumbler of gin and a splash of tonic which hardly fizzed. Great Lady.

Sorry can't give that a like, if the gin is anything like acholo free wine or beer god help us & slimline tonic is the best way to ruin a gin.

Sorry to say you are wrong! We are in Spain and often choose the alcohol free beer when very hot. The alcohol free have come on leaps and bounds.
Spain is as always reassuringly cheaper then the UK - big margin - and than France - smaller margin but noticeable.

Whenever I’ve tried it there seems to be an uncanny resemblance to tepid bath water which I had the misfortune of sampling once when I’d had too much to drink and slipped under…

Have a very enjoyable trip and keep the photos coming.

Now dinner was a sore point waiting for dinner to be served on the ferry, muffled announcement saying dinner would be served in 30 min. Nope it was dinner would finish serving in 30 min we both heard it wrong.

Lenny no dinner, Lenny not happy.

Luck was on our side this evening, take away pizza shop 50m from Aire and further up the road a kebab house where I could get some Pom frites.

Good job I didn't order a lage pizza.

€19.50 for a medium pizza 🍕😱😱😱

you’ve just reminded me to skip through France as fast as possible 😉

Our last night in Benidorm (literally last night) we had

Thai Spring Rolls, Tom Kan Yum

Sizzling Chicken and Spring Ginger with Egg fried rice

I had Sizzling Prawns, I’d say at least 25/30, with Garlic and chilli sauce with Thai noodles, this was superb btw

Vanilla ice cream and 3 full fried bananas in toffee sauce

1/2 carafe of white and 1/2 carafe of lovely red

And it was absolutely superb and all for €22.90

Mandarin Wok El Rincon, highly recommend it

Oh great I love your travel threads. We should have been heading over this week but mum’s health suddenly deteriorated so now hoping for first 2 weeks July. Enjoy! I’ll certainly enjoy your blog …

It was huge bigger than the largest ones you get in the UK, a small was only €12 that would have been a UK large.
A huge and I mean you cannot eat it all unless your just a greedy glutton pizza in San Francisco pizzeria, La Marina is €7😉👍

I’m not knocking France but it is one big massive rip off, there is simply no need for those prices

2pints shandy in Le Tréport was €19, we should have got up and walked away robbin b@st@rds

Rip Off Britain can’t hold a candle to France imo

Have a stroll up the river to the other side of the campsite to view a piece of WW2 history. The foot bridge over the river structure is part of the Mulberry harbour from D Day. Enjoy your travels.
Found the bridge, if we had walked another 50m last night we would have found it but wouldn't of known it's significance.

Kept the birthday girl happy by not going out for a meal, she no like spending money & didn't fancy any of the restaurants.

So it was restaurant A' la Lenny.
