I'm a newbie
Hi I'm a motorhome newbie so still learning.
Does anyone lend there motorhome to friends/family members ? Is it difficult to add - remove there name from the vechile insurance policy ?

Yes.
Son and daughter in law experienced caravanners and campers as kids.
Same with Daughter and son in law.
Strict rules and understanding on use.
Came back immaculate, but low on fuel .
Soon sorted with a quiet word.
Both able to drive on own licences as 3500kg and both have c1.
Son is a fast response paramedic and has more driving qualifications that I have heard of, son in law is a commercial vehicle driver.
Both are better drivers than I will ever be.
Vehicle needs to be used, but not abused, so no issue .
But no to anyone else outside of this group, especially friends .
And anyway, mist of our friends either camp, caravan or have their own Moho, or narrowboat.

We‘ve done over 20 house exchanges with people we’ve never met and from all over the world. The exchange includes letting them have the use of our car. We’ve never had a problem. BUT, for reasons I can’t explain, I could never bring myself to let family or friends use my motorhome.
Exactly the same here. The potential for things to go wrong is too great. Driving and living in MHs takes some getting used to. We have been asked by a couple of friends and a neighbour and the answer was a no for that reason. Sons have only been driving between 1 and 3 years so that's a no-no of course. I might consider driving it somewhere for then to use in situ when they are older and more sensible but definitely not to a festival! This doesn't mean I don't love my kids or am a bad parent or that they haven't been brought up to respect people and property - I am simply acknowledging the reality that they can be pretty unaware of their surroundings at the best of times with their minds on the sort of other things that youngsters have their minds on...
If they were older and experienced in driving larger vehicles that might be different.

We have also done many house shops including car , only problem was a dent in the door from one couple cost £250 to fix I took the attitude that 4months car rental for £250 was a good deal . Although if the shoe was on the other foot I would have got theirs repaired . Never include the motorhome my excuse it was over the legal weight that a foreign license holder can drive 3500 .
which swop company do you use KIWI we have always gone with Homes for exchange now Love home swop ?
Don't want to get off the gist of the thread but in answer to your question to KIWI, we did about a dozen house swaps through Homelink International from when the kids were about 6 until they were about 13/14 - really from when they started school and holidaying in the school holidays got very expensive. We only ever had minor breakages and it was an all round great experience - we did lots in France, plus Switzerland, and round the UK, worked great for seeing London with young kids over a longer period. Would do it again once the kids are no longer living with us. You get to pick people you are comfortable with and we always cleared it with our home insurers first. Anyway, probably for another thread and another forum....

I recall an old saying amongst the shooting fraternity on the subject of loaning ones much loved firearms out to friends/family:
"My wife probably, my dog maybe, my guns - NEVER".
I feel it could be readily altered to cover motorhome.

The only things I don't lend any more are my workshop tools, unless I'm with them. They either don't come back or when I've needed one I've forgotten to whom I lent it.
(I don't have a wife :giggle: ).

We bought ours big enough for our children to be able to use it if they wanted ,but they don't seem keen
So we would have no problem in letting them use it
