@movan I've finished doing poppies for Ripon. What do you need poppies for? I'll do you some but I'm also committed to doing some for our village.

Thank you ... you are lovely. :) @Puddleduck can you explain please .. as I am doing them for you. I tried to find the photos of the horses and poppies to put here but I can't. X

I've got 20 poppies ready here. Not sure when or where you want them. Still doing them while watching the football. (y)

To be honest it's hit both of us a lot more than we thought it would. I'm not sure why.
Think we've had a bad year with friends being seriously ill. We've lost one or two as well.

Thanks Anthea. This will be def the last as the funding is being pulled. I keep getting conned into the prison work.:eek: Very conned this time as I haven't been paid for the work I did in October yet.:eek: But it's only a week so I expect I will survive (y):D. Depends on who turns up in our class. If they're an ok bunch I quite enjoy it but find it kna**ering these days. It's old age taking it's toll.

Hope it goes ok at the prison Hils. Blumming ridiculous that you haven’t been paid yet for October !

In other news my current project is creating two hearts and covering them in red white and blue wool for the Library window display in May which includes a knitted balcony royal wedding scene.

We still have to knit Meghan and the main discussion is around what her dress might look like, I suggested she should be displayed in a towel with her hair in curlers but there wasn’t much enthusiasm for this :)

@movan @Hils and Glenns

Sorry I missed this ..... here are some photos of the horse which we did last year:

this year we hope to drape three sides of the memorial cairn (the ones without inscription) with poppies sewn onto camouflage netting. If we don't have enough poppies for that we will drape (but not obscure) the name plaque. At the service the names of the men are read out and we have a small leaflet with some brief facts about them. Most were only boys but Daniel Stewart was older. We are also trying to trace any surviving family - we know of one family who came to visit but haven't heard if they can make the service this year.

Last year's service and the horse made the local paper :) The horse was "picture of the week" and the service (attended by the Lord Lieutenant) was on the "Important Events" page with a different photo.

Today's job is to get the grant application form filled in and submitted so we can get plants for the garden in the coming year.

I have to say I have a ridiculous amount of wool acumulated in a month or so, which living in a van is a worry ;)

Is it just me that starts umpteen projects just to pull apart
and start something else because I don’t like the look of it?

Snap!!

Just to let everyone know ALDI have lots of wool in this Thursday in their craft week they also have a Pom Pom maker Joy @movan :)

Thanks for the info. Is that THIS coming Thursday please?

I am so loving this poppy making .. it is forcing me to sit down and relax... Both @Janine and @SueTayBon attempted to teach me magic circle but I failed ... It is so good to do something for others inbetween doing my own bits .. can't believe how our total is now growing .. yeah.

Had lovely time with Sue just crocheting and chatting ... then the tractor showed up .. we were quite disappointed. Had hoped to ask Janine to show me 2 chords on my ukelele but time ran out.

Thanks everyone on this thread for being so patient with us learners.

@hilldweller Dinah .. are you interested in joining our marathon poppy event? Only

49,644 to go to reach our target. :)

But after a hectic few days today after I put all the clothes away I am going to sit down and do nothing but crochet:smiley:

@davanne must make a special trip (only 26 miles :) ) but they also have sewing stuff plus other online offers. I do like to see yarn before I buy it though.

@Puddleduck do you want me to tidy up the ends or leave one on so it can be used for sewing the poppies on to whatever it is?

Think Puddleduck asked for the strands to be left for tying. We were talking about it at Chester. :)
