We've had our van for almost four months and I've only just realised this is here, and its purpose! 🫢

5 years owning my last Autotrail before i found out the rear lounge lights dimmed it you held your finger on the button
Before that we sat at night like being in the middle of Blackpool illuminations.

I've just tried that but ours just have rocker switches, so they're either on or off.

LOL... Yes that wont work... Mine were round push buttons, they looked like they would turn but didn't.. Found out much later that you just hold your finger on the button and they dim up and down.. Discovered the same when we changed van to the Burstner..

Ok then. Not so much the MH. But when I used to have a company car, due to being an high miler I’d change at 2 years, I’m ashamed to say when they went back to the lease company I still hadn’t used half the switches and gadgets, as long has the radio, wipers, lights and heater worked, that’d do for me.

For years i had an astra van and my mate had one also. (1980)
He was sat in mine and said, "dont you find it a pita having to open the door to put the interior light on ?"

I pulled out the headlight switch and voila interior light came on.
He had had his astra van 3 years.

That's nothing. I bought a tread mill many years ago and hated the bloody thing. Only when I was dismantling and selling it did I realise that I had installed at an angle so the entire time I was running uphill...yep that's me...Forest

I remember stopping in an Aire in France and we had the pull up clipboard on the dash in the up position, I could see the guy next door looking at it and trying to work out how it worked. He eventually chapped the door and asked, his van was two years old and he didn’t know the clipboard pulled up 😂😂

Knaus interior light switches are weird to operate the dimmers. Press to switch on, release then press and hold to dim.

You use yours then? We find it neither use nor ornament. Our lass would sooner have more cupholders in place of it 😯

Use mine to hold the phone running DigiHUD in non-head-up mode for a speedo that I can read without peering at the poorly lit dash and speedo. It helpfully adds a compass as well.

We found another storage locker under the nearside bed when we deep cleaned it after a 3 month trip round Scandinavia. Think of all the (german) booze I could have hidden in there!

The new ones are far better as they have clamps for holding phone or tablet if using for satnav

Following your comment I have tried my tablet when I went to the yard this morning. It fits quite snug and is better for when we have Android Autolink running.

So, I have seen the light!🙏🏼 Our lass can go bollox with her extra cupholders! 😜

Great for watching Netflix while driving 😂😂😂

When doing some wiring we found a secret cubbyhole we did not know about.
Met some others with the same van that they had had for 5 years, they had no idea.

It's big enough for a couple of books, or passports and money. You could even get in a pair of iPhones, £2k in cash and a Rolex collection, but the insurance will never believe you.

So if you have a 60th edition 2017-18 Hymer MLT or MLI already on your profile, send me a DM and I'll tell you where to look

We full timed in our first van for three months before we realised that the plastic shelf above the cab opened to reveal a very spacious & useful storage compartment!

I found out i had 2 leisure batteries when they failed and we could not find the fuse

There's one under both seats

Have you tried turning the light dimmer up on the dashboard you can see the speedo.then but the lights may be too bright

It's at maximum. Fine at night, but during the day, especially in bright sunshine there is insufficient contrast to read it without peering. I know I am not the only one of hear who thinks it's an appalling design. Speedo's in the 50's are generally easier to read.
