June 2021 International Campervan & Adventure Overland Combined Shows * Full price camping/Show tickets available but day tickets sold out *

Spot the Fun area near a water tap :) There will be 50 RVs from our sister club RVOC in the RV Village too.

There are two, one within the inner small brown marked off area and then a second in the big area. I am confused now or is the small one for people who need hook-up for medical reasons?

Well spotted! There is one main area & an additional overflow area - think which one will be used first will probably depend on numbers but EHU won't be available in either. We would favour having all Funsters in one area rather than split across two but happy to be in a central location with water & waste nearby making a longer stay easier.

I assumed as there were so few of us we’d be together rather than mixed in with the big rigs!

We don't know final numbers yet as know some are interested in booking even without the discount which we were lucky to have been offered. Think we are fortunate to be able to be camped together & unlike many others there, to be near to water & waste - know many would struggle without that & either not book or be unlikely to stay longer to take advantage of the great rates for extra days camping there.

I’m not complaining I hasten to add Karen!

We have booked up for this, its going to be our first ever “rally“ type thing. Planning on possibly doing Thurs -> Monday. Any room in the enclave left for newbies? Am clueless about etiquette etc so expect to make all manner of social blunders :)

We booked after being provided the discount code elsewhere though, does that matter?

Hi & welcome! :hi: Will send you a PM - please click on the envelope in the blue bar at the top of this web page.

Some info. from the website which is helpful to know what to expect!

“2 shows for the price of one” … Covid secure of course!!!

Here you will find the latest news, directions, timings, etc. for the “Adventure Overland Show” (mainly 4WD vehicles) + “International Campervan Show” (mainly 2WD vehicles).

But why add 2WD vehicles to an established show which has featured mainly all-wheel-drive vehicles over the years?

Well these days the lines are getting more and more blurred as ‘vans’ such as 4WD Sprinters, Crafters and Transporters to name but three, join established 4x4s such as Land Rover, Toyotas, Nissans and Suzukis.

2WD vehicles come in all shapes and sizes. This bug was at the show a few years back – the 4×4 guys loved it, star of the show!
This is exactly why the “Adventure Overland Show” has been opened up to include ALL makes and models of camper, for there is a vehicle for every occasion out there, and all vehicles have their merits to varying degrees. Besides, I’ve witnessed first-hand of where 2WDs can venture … you would be amazed.

You can even buy the book!
Besides, they can be really interesting. Case in point … The Chick Family, who travelled around the coast of the UK living on a Tenner a Day. That’s £5 for fuel, £5 for food … for a family of FIVE!!!

And yes, they’ll be at the show in June, not only displaying their quirky camper, but also providing visitors with a talk about their exploits.

Cooking Demos: Chef Campers (Brits) and Bushpig Bushgear (South African) will each be providing demos and advice. Chef Campers will be holding two workshops a day while Bushpig will do as they usually do – just keep cooking up delights in their braai daytime and into the early hours. Mmmm, can smell the aroma now!

YouTuber Village: New to the event, here visitors will have the opportunity to finally meet YouTube bloggers whose exploits they have been following for years. Thousands, or should I say hundreds of thousands regularly tune in to watch these modern day ‘stars of the small screen’, such has been their impact within social media circles. Another first for the event? Yep!!!

BIG campervans: RVs (Recreational Vehicles as they’re known in the USA) have in recent years been making an impact over here in the UK. Yes every now and again we’ll spot a Winnebago or similar on the road or in a campsite, but imagine what 50 will look like spread out in a massive arc … that’s exactly what you’ll witness at the upcoming ‘Spring’ edition of the event!

SE21-GB0RAF-radio-station-6-1640x1480-1-298x300.jpg
The event’s very own radio station:
RAF Waddington ARC (amateur radio club) will be attending with an ex RAF DAF T244 complete with a large pneumatic mast that extends into the air with a large beam rotating antenna. They will be demonstrating long distance communication abroad to places like the USA and maybe Australia using modern and ex military equipment. The club is very keen to promote and showcase radio equipment, particularly with a military theme as they are an RAF club. Yet another first, hope you’re keeping count!

As a SES other operators also like to contact the station from around the world to log our callsign GB0RAF.

EVENING ENTERTAINMENT

Back by popular demand, the Severn Cider Beer Bent features live music (covers bands) Fri and Sat nights, plus chilled non-amplified music in and outside the Acoustic Marquee until the wee small hours … so bring your own musical instrument for a jam session! Complete with three fire-pits, it’s the place to be!

Lucy-Diamond-1.jpg
Lucy Diamond … born to entertain!
Not only that, we’ve got some weird and wonderful entertainers like The Diamond Sisters doing the rounds. Why … why not? Talented circus performers they just love to entertain. A little risqué maybe, but make no mistake these ladies are so skilled we only wish we could provide a hire wire or trapeze, something to really get the pulse racing. As it is they will be fairly subdued … then again?

CATERING

Previously the food outlets were good, but nothing extraordinary. Well we’ve listened to your feedback, the selection and quality this year will be outstanding! Thai, French, Portuguese, Polish, Indian, Greek, Mexican, plus ‘chef standard’ British fare incl. genuine Cornish pasties, some of the best fish & chips around, even mussels with St Austell Brewery’s Tribute Ale and chorizo!

‘THE TEAM’

Unlike a lot of shows these days, the “Adventure Overland Show” + “International Campervan Show” is truly an event run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. I realise this phrase is often misused, but in this case it is 100% true. As such we do not have the massive budgets other events enjoy, therefore without non-paid volunteers helping out, the show simply wouldn’t exist.

Please bear this in mind if you ask a marshal where a particular trader is located, or where and when a certain seminar is taking place. The fact is, although willing to help, unless they have a radio they simply won’t have all the answers.

If you require specific information or have a problem of any kind, please visit the Event Office.

See you soon … and thanks for supporting ‘our’ show! Tom McGuigan (Event Director)

For anyone who hasn't booked yet but may be interested in coming along please see the post above & let us know on here if you do book & want to be in the Motorhome Fun area so we can make sure enough space is allocated.

We’re planning on driving up after Nick has played blasted golf on Tuesday! He’s missed so much due to Covid I suppose I can’t complain.
Actually yes I will, bloody golf....

The labrador is now getting very excited about his first outing in our van, he’s practising by having a day “off grid” on the drive now, to be fair theres not a lot of difference it seems from being horizontal on the sofa and horizontal in the motorhome. Owners are also getting quite excited about the prospect of our first long weekend away - see you on Thursday afternoon!

Hi All - lots of sun here & quite exciting watching the Shows set up & all the interesting vehicles arriving. Contrary to what was planned - there won't be any official Show marshals parking up until Friday & the area for all campers has changed so the Fun camping is in two adjoining areas but still near water & a shorter walk to the Elsan point than the other campers have. On arrival follow the signs for the Show area across the race track & check in (desk to the right of the Falstaff Bar & toilet block) with your printed off barcode ticket, paying for any extra nights & collect your wristbands. Camping for Funsters is on the right, in the field behind the Fun flag along the hedge past the Berlingo & N&B with 6m spacing between motorhomes but space also allowed for attached awnings & shelters. If you are unsure where to park ask & check with Tom the Show organiser before you are fully set up. There will be a local Council inspection so important to be pitched correctly & checked in - we can advise if we are here when you arrive but if not please check with Tom.

Just like to say thank you to all for the wonderful introduction and help when we arrived, Barney (the excitable first time lab) is in seventh heaven and its getting very busy with people setting up. My pitch is starting to look like an advert for advice taken from this forum though!

Thanks for all the help yesterday. Especially after our pup, Eevee was bitten. Your kindness was really appreciated especially by my distraught wife!

And a special thanks to Eevee’s new friend Barney who provided dog support.

All the rigs lit up nice was really cool and looking forward to having a good look round today. I want to see the tuk tuks and have a nosey round some of the unimogs. Great to see that it is busy here and to hear people having fun last night. Some sense of normality at last.

Thanks to ‘wombles’ for or organising the Fun area.

Cheers, Martin & Suzanne
