It's stormy in Spain.

It’s the prospect of golf ball sized hail that scares me in those conditions. Got caught in one once hoping the roof hatch would survive. Lots of cars damaged and windscreens broken.
We had that with two of my cars wrecked in burgundy France, 1990

We are toying with the idea of staying for the festival. We have been playing hoky koky on Villasol, moving onto our third pitch tomorrow, and got to get off on the 1st November as the site is fully booked, then back on the 3rd for a while longer.

We are going to Camperlive in Finestrat for two nights, anybody been on there before?
Yes we were there last year, it’s fine power / Water and drain on each pitch, small charge for hot showers, and a unheated swimming pool if you feel inclined,
Very near to main shopping centre and walkable to a nice beach but will need transport to get to the old town, we took the scooter,

How did you find the sloping entrance?
I have a tag axle, with a long rear over hang.

We were there last year with a tag and the towbar scraped, probably ok, if you can approach at an angle.

Never been abroad yet - in my motorhome - i have been at our place in Fuengirola during the startling storms - so happy i was not in motorhome. The lightening just flashed and flashed - crashing - wild sea. Scary. Really want to drive through Europe - just don’t how you get started. Any tips for a total beginner?

My wife is on a conference in Valencia, one of her Spanish colleagues sent this to her this morning..

51 souls lost in the storm is absolutely tragic and, sadly, I fear that number might / will grow as the rescue services complete their searches.

We are due to fly to Alicante tomorrow morning and travel down to Almeria.

The Fiesta in Benidorm has absolutely nothing to do with the British.! It’s a celebration of their (Spanish) Patron Saint,
The fiesta runs from Friday to Wednesday, the Thursday is the day the British bars put on floats and fancy dress parties.
A truly remarkable spectacle with 50,000 people in fancy dress having a great time.!
Also Benidorm is the biggest tourist destination for the Spanish, sometimes I wonder if any of the knockers of Benidorm have actually been there..???

1. Don't bite off too much in a day.. you are on holiday.
2. Don't set unrealistic expectations of final destination. The South of France, Spain, Italy etc are all great to visit but a long way away.
3. Arrange to arrive such that you know where you are heading on the first day and arrive in daylight.
4. Hopefully have two drivers on board. In a RHD vehicle having someone in the left seat you trust at t junctions and roundabouts is almost mandatory.
5. Make sure you have adequate insurance and breakdown cover.
6. Enjoy.

I also have a long rear overhang and had no problems going diagonally across the entrance,

Just travelled from Ronda to Málaga, 75 miles took 3 hours torrential rain roads flooded and blocked with mud slides.

Now sat on the beach front at Málaga, dry'ish but rough.View attachment 971798
Van looks nice and clean considering the state of the roads,or is that a pic of a clean bit.

Get yourself a ferry and go for it. When we go down to the apartment at Riviera in the spring we take the MH. There is a great place to secure store it at the back of Fuengirola. We usually tootle down over a couple if weeks, stay 2-3 weeks, then tootle back over a 2-3 weeks. We enjoy the crossing to Santander down and usually do not book anything on the way back until we are well up in France and ready to head home. S4S is the app we use for stops. At the very worst, you can turn around and come back if you find it isn't for you. I would urge you to give it a go. Far better than trying to find stops in the UK.
Safe and happy travels.

If you struggle with the entrance there is another camper park across the road with a level entrance. Bit older and not so posh though.

You must have missed it it's hammering it down here .I think we've got off lightly judging by some of the posts on facebook that Ros has found from further west round Baza.😳
Yes we were extremely fortunate yesterday.
Oiy! Oiy! Oiy! We land in Santander on Saturday so get the weather sorted out by then thankyouverymuchly. 👍
doing our best
Is Stretto Boy there with you 😂
Yes I always think that.
But as we all know, they couldn’t forecast Christmas
We find the AeMet forecasts here to be more or less spot on.🤷‍♂️

Just watched an interview given by a Spanish gentleman....it was recorded in one of the worst hit areas, known to us...in fact an area we are sometimes at this time of the year.
Many lives lost there....the man said. " It wasn't even raining where the incident happened" but the water had accumulated in the mountains and took this village with incredible force....one 90 year old claimed never to have experienced a Dana as bad in his lifetime....so sad for the region of Valencia and Spain in general🇪🇦

A few years ago we stayed at Camping Alegria just outside Benicarlo down Valencia way. It was winter so rain was to be expected, and so we had a couple of days when it absolutely poured down. The local area was very wet but not flooded. On the way into Benicarlo is a usually dry river bed flowing into the sea. On day 2 of the rain a little stream of water appeared in the dry bed. Over the next day this turned into a raging river fuelled by water from the mountains. There was cars and all sorts in it.

The rain was so heavy it washed most of the mud straight off.
