It's stormy in Spain.

Do I understand the purpose of "Ramblas" correctly?
They are built, just in case, of flood water... so parking in one just at the moment is the height of idiocy
Have I got that correct ?
yes
So why would you park in one just now?
yes why, but many do.

There has been flooding here in the Tarragona area.
We were unable to sleep for a few hours because of the lightning, thunder and heavy rain.
The amount of water that fell was impressive and the streets looked like rivers.
Now everything seems to be calm and there is no traffic because everyone is still at home with mobility restrictions until 12h.
No schools today and everything is closed, it looks like when covid times.
Let's hope that there has been no serious damage and maybe the reservoirs have recovered somewhat with this water.
But the real drama is still just 250 km down the coast from here.

Thanks for your update Peavy good to see your regional administration have advised you well, this is no doubt going to save lives..
We sustained some flooding here in our part of Murcia too.
We plan to leave this morning to a dryer area for a few weeks....🇪🇦❤️🚴

I have to say the decision to place people at home has been a good one. The road I use to get to work has collapsed
along with some other roads that have been floded.
Have a great trip you two. Report something to clear our minds with fresh stuff😀

This is the state of the road I use to go to work this morning (the photo is from a local newspaper):

Was torrential in Finestrat yesterday and there was a bit of drama in Altea.

Benidorm had torrential rain last night for a few hours, we just got back to the motorhome before the worst of it started.
Whats happened in Altea,as we are about to bike there ?

I am sure a few of us would contribute in a personal bank transfer or paypal if anyone there can go shopping and drop off.

Prey tell, where this dryer area might be. We are stuck in a Totana limbo, not knowing where to go next?

Sandra, you need to move away from the Med corridor until the threat of the DANA has passed.

We're heading inland to the Don Quixote area.

Wh05apk - are you still at Malaga Beach? How’s the weather been? Any real issues?
Hi Carpmart we have moved on and now at Puerto almerima,
Apart from last Monday, when we moved down from Ronda through torrential rain and mudslides the weather has been ok, the last 3or 4 day glorious, mid 20s and cloudless.

Barcelona is getting flooded now.

And finally the Severe weather warnings that have caused havoc and extreme loss of life, have been lifted.
A whole week has now passed, resulting in lives lost, towns and villages destroyed....the recovery and clean up continues and in time all the missing will be added to the ever increasing toll.
It's a beautiful autumn morning, peaceful, no threats of storms, but just one week ago, a totally different picture...
DANA had its final say yesterday, giving the Catalan regions a severe soaking, our Funster Friend, Peavy has reported that his regional government has ordered everyone not to go out, this no doubt saved lives.
I read an article yesterday from the Meteorological office in Spain, saying when Red Weather Alerts are put out, you cannot go about your normal daily routine..perhaps something we all can learn from. The rest of Spain away from the worst hit areas, will be business as usual, welcoming and providing what we all need from this wonderful country.❤️🇪🇦

Any bridge under 5,03m in europe on main roads is usually signed in advance + it is painted on the bridges . Any around here under that are signed & painted.
