It's autumn in Spain, we're on the road again

We wake to 5°c this morning...this could be our final settled day as storms are a coming.
Our home Region of Murcia is going to get a hammering again, as are other regions..
We watch the forecast and dodge the best we can, however where to head for us becoming less obvious, at some time this week we will have to find a safe place and sit it out.
Even travel days after the current spell of stormy weather can be challenging...some roads in some areas will be impassable due to water run off or debris...even mud slides are commonplace...but this Municipality has very few mountainous areas...so this helps greatly...extra layers today for our proposed ride...🚴🚴🤔🇪🇦🇪🇺😃
This could take a while to clear...I believe it's a major through route...trying to find exact location...if anyone knows..please post....

What's the saying? "Red sky at night, shepherd's delight". It doesn't seem to mean that in Spain, unless the experts have got it wrong.

Just now, featuring our German neighbours.

Same here, we had a lovely sunset yesterday evening, woken this morning at 5.15am by thunder, torrential rain then hailstones just to make sure we didn't sleep through it 😴

Martin, this is the blockage in the A66 from León to Asturias that we discussed in this thread.
Nobody was hurt luckily.

The red sky didn't work so no delight this morning. We woke to a dull, cold morning with a little rain starting just before 8.00. We've moved to the motorhome area of Villarobledo because it's on a hardstanding area next to a park and the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Calidad, which was open when we went to look around.

And the Park. It has two lovely kids play areas in a small park.

There's always a lovely corner to find wherever you travel.

It's not raining now, but it's very, very cold, damp cold. We're staying in the warm for the rest of the day.

What effect will this rain have on the wildflowers that have been lacking in some areas you visited last spring?

They should be pretty good in spring if it doesn't dry out too much again by then.

We were here in spring this year. At home it was dry and brown. Here, over Easter, they had heavy rain. This was the effect a few weeks later. Our eyes almost hurt. It was wonderful to see.

We had very little rain yesterday and today began dry, but very gloomy. We weren't inspired to go out on the bikes, so instead we moved onto our present spot at the motorhome parking area of Lezuza, 50 km or so heading back towards Murcia.

Lezuza parking is a huge area with 8 marked spaces for motorhomes. It looked a bit wet when we arrived so we drove up the hill to the cemetery and parked in the pines there to go for a walk. We strolled for a pleasant 5 km. There's a castle on the hill, and an archaeological site, but we've visited them before so this time we just walked on past.

We've seen some sun today, and it's breezy, so at the end of our walk we headed back down to the official parking, and it was much drier by then, so we crossed the sandy gravel to our present spot. If it stays dry overnight we hope to get out on the bikes tomorrow.

Parking in the pines. The castle in the background.

The plan today was to ride but this morning it was grey and damp and windy, with a similar forecast until Monday. Bearing in mind we would need to be home on Wednesday anyway, we decided to head home today instead of sitting in the van for the weekend.

We've left the van in standby mode and, hopefully, we'll be back on the road on Thursday.

So, I'll keep the thread open for adding to soon.

Only been home a few hours and am ready to set sail again..
Made various appointments, Opticians tomorrow, Motor scooter ITV...Monday...a couple of cables from Amazon ordered...
Annual visit to Doctors on Thursday..just administration...that's it....nothing more to hang around for...🚴🚴🇪🇺

And hopefully we'll find some 🌞🌞🌞🌞

We are still here...the motorhome wheels are stationary, but that will change on Thursday..
Just a little more basic admin tasks to complete, a social afternoon of Chat and Tapas with some good Norwegian friends on Wednesday before they return to Norway on Thursday..
The monitor connected to the Firestick has been tricky to install...but I'm happy with the final result...this will enable me to watch my program choice from a relaxing seated position... Bluetooth headset will complement the set-up...
Very nice Autumnal weather this week, so off on bikes today in the local Sierra...🚴🚴🇪🇺

We rode in Sierra Espuña, setting off along the Trasvase Rio Segura just after the sheep and goats had passed. We rode up a route we haven't done for many years. It's very steep and it used to be stony and water washed. Today it was much better and our ebikes easily climbed up the steepest parts.

There are a lot of brown pines and sound of chainsaws was constant.

Tomorrow we're preparing the van to head out on Thursday. We're going to Casas Nuevas motorhome area and our Dutch neighbours are driving over on Friday to go for a ride with us on the north of the Sierra.

Absolutely love the Sierra Espuña! We did a proper extreme bike ride on our last visit, almost too extreme for us!

It's been a nice day today. We had lunch here with Norwegian friends who are going back to Norway on Saturday for Christmas. We made a selection of tapas and, if I say so myself, it all seemed to be enjoyed.

A far cry from the Smalahove they made us eat when we visited them in Norway 🤣.

We're off to Casas Nuevas tomorrow and we've seen that Colin and Sandra Armytwowheels are there. We should have a good catch up, it's been quite a few years!

Our Dutch friends, who bought our old bikes, are driving over on Friday to go riding with us. We have a nice route planned for them.

Tonight's sunset wasn't stunning, just very lovely.

5 weeks and counting till we get to ride our bikes on Spanish soil again. Can't come too quickly. The sun came out today in Brighton so I grabbed the ebike and wrapped up. Not enough! 20mph northly wind was so bitter my hands and face were too painful to keep riding.

It's fly season unfortunately..the last place we stayed we killed about 50 in the van...bloody annoying indeed...should be confined to visitors not residents...😀🇪🇦
Well when you meet up, direct all the flies to Armytwowheels MH ::bigsmile:
