Italy, Lake Garda May 2010.

We are now the Magnificent Five. Doesn't sound right - Famous Five ?

How about the Funster Five or the Five Funsters. :Rofl1:

Will we make The Dirty Dozen - now that fits FUN to a tee.

Come on Funsters, the more the merrier.:thumb:

Just a thought....

For those poor souls who have to work and don't mind a brisk drive, I noticed this

where we stopped last year. It's half way from Garda to Calais, about €14 a night and that buys an extra day's holiday as long as you can do two days at 380 miles each day.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the PM.
Our route is likely to be as follows:---
Dover 10th. about 1000, arriving Calais about 1300 hrs.

Drive to Maubeuge and stay the night at Camping du Clair de Lune - 1 night
Drive to Luneville (via Luxembourg) Aire (No. 49, Eastern France) - 1 night
Drive (joining A35 just S of Colmar) to Luzern, arriving pm 12th. We decided to stay at this place
Campingplatz Vierwaldstättersee. It's only about 6 km from your selected site and there's public transport close to site (and we'll have our bikes anyway), so we'll be able to meet up. I've asked for some info, but they're not open now, so I'll be surprised if I get a response - we'll see. It looks really nice and (if the ACSI card is OK for the dates) it won't break the bank (oh no, that was Monte Carlo - not going there at this time:BigGrin:). We'll let you know what it's like when we see you - piccies included. Plan to book 2 nights there.
Maybe won't convoy to Garda but plan to get there late afternoon.

We'll make all our own bookings, of course. No doubt you'll let us know what the secret code is so that they know we're part of the group (presumably after Xmas).

We plan to head down to Pisa afterwards, for a couple of days (probably won't stay in the car park :Eek!:) and then on to Genoa before heading up into the Valle d'Aosta and the Rhone Alps, before dropping down to Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, Arles, Montpellier and Carcassonne.

What a trip.

Anything I can do to help out, let me know.

I love German - Camping Place Four Woods Town Sea. See if you can count the woods/forests. Got to be better than The National Forest as signposted on the M1 with hardly a tree in sight.

It's shaping up for a good 'un. Chip in later when we get round to "what to take" "what not to do" sort of thing.

Hi Brian please can you put us down as a definite maybe so we are in the loop.:thumb:

Don't know about that - sup with the Devil and all that. Or are you like the BNP guy a victim of bad publicity ?

Oh all right then, there'll be loads of priests around to sort you out.

Hi

Got a couple of odd e-mails from a Frank Smith asking for all of my travel details for next year:Eek!:

Asked who he was - no reply.

Anyone know who he is or why he is asking for travel details? His English/grammar wasn't right either.

Not being paranoid - just cautious:Smile:

Emails not PMs ?

Does any of us know you email address/es ?

Best not to even reply because that has now marked you as genuine to any firm that just bought 1,000,000 email addresses off some crook in Romania.

A plague upon all these vermin, we have to give an email address to do many things on the web and a lot off them are copied and sold for good money to businesses and crooks world wide.

I make but one promise, if you need to make a deal with me I will give you good terms:Rofl1:

PS I'm not as bad as my avatar depicts, but don't tell everyone

Yeah Right. I once chatted to this bloke Faust, story goes he was going to do the Open University and then you came along. "You don't want that crap, take you years, I'll do a nice little MBA for you in a week, just sign here."

Then you send in the heavies to collect.

Makes note to 'er indoors, "don't forget the garlic, some silver crosses, a gold one for luck and the telephone number of that no win no fee exorcist".

Absolutely no doubt why this forum has the name it has!:Laughing:

A more serious note.
As I posted yesterday we intended to stay at SEECAMPING VIERWALDSTAETTERSEE in Lucerne. I sent them an e-mail asking for some info and received a most helpful reply.

I have attached them here (I hope). It's called 'Original message'. I've snipped some of the extra stuff - tourist info about the area and some piccies.

The main reason for putting this up is to give you the heads-up that May 13th. is a public holiday, so it promises to be busy when we're going, particularly if it's nice weather. Lots of other stuff there too.

trip 2010

Hi,we stayed for a week last year at "camping Butterfly" great wee site, brill location, short walk into the town ,wife loved the shops and the young hair dresser in the town who made a lovely job of her hair.We went for a morning boat trip (about 4 hours) the swimming pool on site was great but,be aware everyone has to wear a swimming cap except myself and another as he was bald and my hair is kept at a number one (very short crew cut)
Would go again but we have decided to go back to Croatia again in May 2010.

Hi,we stayed for a week last year at "camping Butterfly" great wee site,

I didn't "find" Butterfly, it was a fellow on facts that recommended it and for that I'm very grateful, so all I'm doing is spreading the good word.

Keep us posted on Croatia, there's 2011 to think of and it may be essential to escape 2012.

Hey Brian

Have you actually had a reply from'Butterfly' re reservations. I tried but got a big silence. Or do we need to wait til Jan?

I have just phoned them. They have space, they will book in November. She gave me the email address of info@campingbutterfly.it. I have emailed right now reserving my place and say look out for many others mentioning motorhomefun.

Luzern - they reply instantly========================
Hello, There will be no problem when you take your reservation in December. In Maywe have enough pitches for free.

Hi Brian

Thanks for the e-mail link to camping Butterfly. I assume that they will need reservation dates and name and a request to be parked with the Motorhome Fun group. Is there any other info that will be required eg vehicle size, reg. number, do we mention ACSI.

I took the following from the Luzern sites web page.
Dear Guest,

Camping International Lido is open throughout the year as even in winter Lucerne and the surrounding mountains offer a whole host of possibilities.

Reservations can only be made for rental accommodation.

As guests come and go on a daily basis, pitches are obtainable at short notice even in the high season. Young persons under the age of 18 are not permitted to camp on the site unless accompanied by a responsible adult.

Will this cause us any problems

Brisey

Thanks for the e-mail link to camping Butterfly.

Here is my email to Butterfly================
Dear Camping Butterfly,
Because your campsite it so good ( we visited last May ) I am organising a meeting of about 10 UK campervans to visit you next year. We are all members of www.motorhomefun.co.uk. Each person is going to make their own booking because some cannot stay as long as others. We will all mention motorhome fun and if you can put us together that would be good. We will all have ACSI cards.

Can I make this my personal reservation: Arrive Friday May 14 2010 depart Monday May 24 2010. Burstner 530 campervan 6m long.

Brian....... plus address and phone
==================================

Luzern aren't consistant. They imply by email that they will take a booking. What the hell, what are we mice or lions, it's not like we would have to sleep in a doorway is it, live dangerously die young. Worst case would be to wild camp one night and hit Garda a day earlier, Italy is only 80 miles from Luzern, but I can't see it coming to this.

Last year when we did it we did not book a single site. I know it's a bit different with a group but we'll survive. Remember Caesar did it on a horse 2000 years ago. If anyone feels uncomfortable shout out.

Booking

Hi Brian,

Have just sent my e-mail to camping Butterfly to make our booking.

Quite a modest in-box then, but being Italian you can be sure it will be full of style.
