Oh good.

I don't think we need to book 'till January when all the sites should be ready for taking bookings. The only site I think is essential to book is Butterfly because it's not that big and we'd like to be together. Of course it all depends on how many finally decide to make it.

How many are prepared to say definitely *now* ?

Looks like were going.... just booked the ferry £48 return with norfolk line.:thumb:
Got to book it at work, just have to hope our Brenda's get parole..

I'll keep building this list then -- but NO obligations, just come if it suits you, if something crops up, well, that does happen in the real world.

We're prepared to warp time to fit this in with the rest of our plans, so count us in.

Not sure where we'll be meeting up, possibly at Metz, maybe Lucerne, or even, if that's the eventual chosen route, Luxembourg - but I imagine the details will be ironed out in due course.??

Looking forward to it. Something to take the chill off a cold November night (and December, January, February and March).:thumb:

Hi Brian

Sorry to be a nuisance. Been away so just seen your 'fixed in runny concrete' schedule.

We are going to depart UK early & link up en-route. Meet at Luzern to trundle down to Garda.

Can you please confirm that you are going to block book slots at Garda for all who committ - or is it up to individuals to book all campsites including those en-route?

Also seen that some ferries have been booked. On receipt of your reply will be booking mine.

Cheers

Billkce

Billkce

Not a nuisance at all, I started it.

I am *not* booking anything except my own - too risky

I'm offering inspiration. A route. Known good places in my opinion. Anyone wanting to tag along behind us at a steady 60mph is more than welcome and it goes without saying any problems and I'm sure we'll all do our best to help. We'll swap a few mobile phone numbers around nearer the time.

What I will do is email Garda or phone and make it clear a load of Brit nutters are booking in and would like to be sited together. Luzern does not matter for a couple of nights. I emailed Butterfly a good while ago and got no reply but it was via an agency. I'll have another go. Luzern did reply quickly, posted earlier, "no problem".

Joining at Luzern works for me.

Hi, if its OK with you, I assume that you will be going Dover/Calais, Let me know which Ferry and I will book and travel on same and following behind at a respectable distance :notworthy::notworthy:
I think the norm is 3 paces behind :Rofl1:

Also what campsites on which nights.

Is anyone else limited to two weeks due to work commitments?

Keep up the good work, S.:thumb:

>> Hi, if its OK with you, I assume that you will be going Dover/Calais

Out of habit and Brisey has us organised to spend Monday night at the Calais docks for an early start Tuesday. That will be the hardest day. I see no reason not to go via Lille/Luxembourg it will save a useful amount of cash ( a good €50 ) but take an extra 30 miles.

Are you so keen you want to book now ? I don't mind, I think we've reached the point of no return.

Dover-Calais
First quote: Sea France 18:30 Mon 10th return Jun 6 which we will certainly change £81
2nd P&O similar times £75
Chunnel £152 - go screw yourselves.

Can anyone else spot a better deal ?

Hi Brian

The point of no return:Eek!: has been reached for a few of us it seems.
Ferry prices for us, in a slightly less than 6 metre motorhome, going out May 10th @ 18:30 and returning in June are as follows.

Sea France £84.80

P&O £75.00

Tunnel £132

In view of the postings on here regarding Sea France going into administration,:Eek!: P&O looks the best bet.:thumb: I will phone the C&CC this morning to see if they can better these prices and post the results.

I have been in touch with C&CC for quotes.
Sea France was more expensive than I was offered directly on line. P&O was £71 a saving of £4, I didn't bother with the tunnel.
And so we have duly booked our crossing, departing Dover at 18:15 on Monday 10th May using P&O Ferries.

Y - E - S !

Last one on the boat is a sissy.

Are we allowed to say that now ?

Last one on the boat has symptoms of gender dysfunction.

I can hear the music from the Magnificent Seven in the background. Totally blank face but a subtle nod and two fingers go up. I reckon Brisey is *made* for the Yul Brynner part.

Hi Brian & fellow travellers

Got your GO message.

Our ferry booked for 6 May - going via Arras, Luxembourg & Strasbourg to visit friends. Will see you all at Luzern on 12 May.

Can't wait

Can you please confirm name of site at Luzern?

See you in the queue the

This looks sorted now, bar final details like route map and swap some phone numbers so everyone who asked has ( I hope ) had a PM with final dates.

What a pain trying to PM just 15 people. First you can only do 2 at a time in spite of the software allowing you to select all 15 at once, then it chimes up "Can only post once per minute". I know why but it's still a pain in the bum and over restrictive. There's, what, 8000 in here, no spam merchant would bother at 100 a go let alone 2. 10 looks a decent compromise to me. That would take a spam artist 13 hours to send just 1 PM each. But what the heck it's free and very good, shouldn't be too ungrateful.

I'll start a new final thread in April to fine tune it for everyone. How hard can it be, just 750 miles from Calais !!

Well The Italian Job has got carried away by it's own momentum. it seems that final dates have been fixed by popular demand. I hope that no-one feels left out of the loop, so here it is.
